I was thinking of wearing my Bell & Ross this weekend to the beach. It does not have the screw down crown. It says it is waterproof but really?!?!?!

I usually wear my Omega or Rolex at the beach but I had surgery on my wrist and it is still swollen. The Bell & Ross has a buckle which makes it easier to wear. Just nervous that water will leak through the crown.

    Thanks gents

My opinion: if you're at the beach a watch is the last thing you need.

Tan line, something to loose, or break... and if you're on the beach, who cares what time it is?

Go to Wal Mart, buy a $12 waterproof watch, wear it once.

    Don't take your B&R.

Got a BR03-92 (steel) for Fathers-day, and the book says waterproof to 100M, but also says of you do take it into salt water, to rinse the entier unit in fresh. (So both of those say to me its fine in water overall).

Also says you should take it to a dealer every 2yrs to check the seals. (I'm guessing the units with the screw-down-crowns, depending on use, they may check closer)

I don't have a Bell & Ross but I take my Tag in all of the time. I have had it on when I was diving in the Cayman Islands and had it over 110 ft. No ill effects. Just rinse to get the salt off (crystals can degrade the seals quickly) and you are good to go.

Yeah, I believe most waterproof watches ought to be pressure checked every few years f you're going to submerge them. I picked up a nice luminox to go to the Caribbean with. Didn't sweat it in the pool/beach. I know it is silly, but I wouldn't dive with my nicer watches such as the sub or panerai.

No watch is waterproof, they can offer varying levels of water resistance. And water resistancy is a condition; it may be water resistant in the morning, then you bang the crown on something, the case tube gets damaged, and it's not longer water resistant in the afternoon.

For a "cheap" quality dive watch I'm considering a Deep Blue in the T100 (tritium) edition.
By cheap I mean about $600. Regular Deep Blues can be had for $300.
Tritium just blows luminious paint out of the water.
I am holding out for a Ball tritium and have had several no brainers go by. I swear someone is sitting at home hitting refresh at WatchUSeek while I am out working. The good deals are gone in a minute.

As for now the G-shock works.
That really is a fantastic watch.
