I used a silver grease pen to draw circles around my mounting bolts to help get it lined back up easier...

The difference is doing it every day as opposed to every five years.

I cant think of any way of doing it without marking. That does not mean there isnt a way of course, which I have missed.

If you leave the bolts loose enough to close the lid and adjust the fit, when you open it they move out of place as the struts are pushing against them. If you dont connect the struts the weight of the lid when opening causes it to fall downwards.

What makes it worse is if the adjustment is wildly out, the lid could graunch against the body when opening or closing.

Most hated job (!) ...and I can't for the life of me imagine trying it single handed.

The alignment holes on mine are pretty good & I have some pins I made which helps to get it into the ball park. (just some cut down nails that are a good fit)

After that its trial & error

I bought a Maxjax lift a few months ago too. Great value for a 6000 lb rated lift. And you can move it out of the way or have it in more than one spot if you like, although mine stays in place.

Best tool I have ever bought for my garage.

Makes almost every task easier, even raising the vehicle to keep from having to stoop so much when working in the front compartment or engine. Having things at easy working height has saved my back and improved visibility of components and alignment.

Things you would put off doing when you think about hauling out the jacks and stands now get done quickly and easily.

Crawling around on the concrete under the car on jack stands hurts now too, lol!

Ever seen a pro garage without a lift? There is a good reason for that!
