Didn't we just have a thread titled something like this? :)

You may or may not have read that I was just about to change my belts due to a noisy tensioner bearing. All the parts for that job are ordered and expected to arrive tomorrow. Well, I started up the car last night to move it to my 'work spot' and now the front bank seems to be making a little more valve noise. Sounded as if its a couple quarts low on oil, so I moved it the few feet that it needed to move so I have ample space to work on it and shut it down immediately.

Of course I'm paranoid that I could've skipped a belt tooth or two, and then again I'm wondering if it's all in my head to begin with... So, I've decided that I'm going to pull the valve covers to adjust the cam timing as well as do a valve adjustment.

The big question that I have is...should I go ahead and photodocument this project like I've done with my others??? These procedures have been well documented on FChat, no doubt, so I'm wondering if I should duplicate that or just move on? On one hand I could possibly add some value, but on the other would it be just *another* belt/valve adjustment thread on a 308?

    What do you guys think?

Jim, please do photo-document your work! I love this stuff. My 328 is not due for a major for a couple more years but I'm hopeful to pick up the necessary skills to do the job myself when the time comes. I had planned on doing a search and preparing a folder of relevant threads for just this thing. If you or anyone else have already compiled such a thing would you be willing to share it with me? Best of luck on your project, I love following your threads. Exhaust, suspension, now this . . . great stuff!

    Hi Jim,

Literally any job on a 30+ year old car gets bigger as you get into it.

Photos are not only good for us to figure out how to put things back together but to entertain and educate our fellow Tifossi. There is always something to be learned: another tip or tool or technique, so if you have the patience and the inclination, I'll be reading.

    best,
    chris

I was thinking that it would be beneficial from another angle, but you never know....

I pulled the hood off last night, so that will be the first picture that I take today...I'll begin disassembly this evening. :)

Actually, I drive the h*ll out of this car!!! I've owned it for 15months and have put something like 26,000KMS on it! (16,000miles)
I just had it down in Indianapolis one day (4hrs round trip) and then drove it the next day about 250miles to see a buddy. I drove it 4 days in a row to the pool/golf course to goof off on vacation last week. That's about a 30 mile R/T.
I'm going to take my time with this project and then drive it 1,244 miles R/T for the "308 in '08" Event in Memphis on Oct. 10-12. :)
