I am looking for F512 TR, there are one in Germany and maybe i go to buy it next week, only a problem, big service with belt change is from 2000' (six years ago) since, the car only run arround 2000 km, is absolutly necessary to replace the belt again? an mechanical say me that is necesary to make the big service every three years or 50.000 km. but, if a delay the belt change one more year, is bad for the engine? in another car models the belt supports 6 or 8 years without problems. i hope your answer. saludos.

There are two reasons to change the belts & tensioners now

1 - as commented in other threads lack of use may be more damaging esp to tensioners etc than constant use

2 - it give you peace of mind that the car immediately is as good as it can be and gives a solid foundation for your personal service history

I would get the belt changed for sure. 6 years and only 2000km? If you delay it for a year, you may be ok.....or wait a year and you may have a catastrophic engine failure and it will cost you many many thousands of dollars! Bad idea! The previous owner should have driven the car more. If you like the car and have had a good PPI done and there arent any issues. Buy it..............but get the belt/tensioner's changed. You may want to talk the price of the car down a little due to the fact the major/belt change will cost you a few thousand. Good luck with it, i love the 512TR. :)
