Hey everyone, There's a part in my engine that appears slightly bent and I wanted to get your opinion on it. First, does anybody know what it is? I searched for a 355 engine diagram online but couldn't find one. My hunch is an upper motor mount? Second, is this piece critical enough that I should have it replaced or will it be ok as is? -The 1st picture shows the location in the engine bay (right side) -The 2nd and 3rd are side and directly above shots of the part that's bent. You will see that it's leaning towards the rear of the car. -The last shot is an identical part located symmetrically on the left side but it is not bent. Looks like the upper mount for the muffler. Ferrari F355 M2.7 (1995) Parts : Table 17 - EXHAUST SYSTEM Image Unavailable, Please Login
LOL! That's a spring-loaded hanger for the exhaust system. They frequently look like that, nothing to worry about.
Great, thank you. New to Ferrari, so every time I see something that appears to be even a little off I begin to worry!
It's been a while, but I remember part of the mounting mechanism being slotted. So, I'll bet you can loosen some of the bolts that mount the exhaust and move things around a bit to straighten this out. (not the bolt on top of the spring. I'd leave that one alone).
@ the OP --- I admire your fastidiousness and observational prowess........but........how do I put this delicately......don't quit your day job j/k Go out and drive and enjoy your car ---- and don't worry so much.....They are NOT as fragile as some folks think ! BTW, from the looks of the engine bay, yours looks to be a very clean 355 !
