Happened this morning. Man in a silver Continental. Car riddled with bullets, and main artery into downtown shut down. Wonder if it's anyone "notable". http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/story?section=news/local/los_angeles&id=6552300
I'm guessing he was leaving a club and didn't make friends there. If not that, def. something wrong driving that late at night.
oh cmon its not THAT bad down there....but there is a lot of nightlife where the crowd is somewhat "street" so maybe he did piss off someone..the car had still had the selling dealers paper plates.."Dream Motorcars"..they sell late model high end cars and are right down the street from us and i remember seeing that Bentley on there showroom floor a few weeks ago.seems like there were detectives there early this morning sniffing around..
Apparently, the guy is near death. Cops being very tight lipped about the ID of the guy, but they don't think he's anyone of note.
It kinda makes ya think. Bullet proofing my 430 might slow it down a bit. My gut tells me that this was a wrong place wrong time scenario that could have been avoided. But I have no idea, it's just a hunch. Whatever it is, It reminds me to be a courteous driver when driving in this town late at night in a high end car.
I am more prone to assuming that it was not a random "wrong place, wrong time" situation. We'll see, but I hope he is able to survive.
Update: 25 year old was Latino, car was not registered to him, nor do police believe it belonged to him. The dealership employee would not reveal the name of the Bentley owner, and the dealership owner is on vacation.
I used to work with a famous L.A. weathercaster who had a factory armored S-class Mercedes. The car was originally ordered by a Mexican drug lord who failed to take delivery after being shot and killed in another car. (Bad timing.) The weather guy, who apparently loves cars with stories, bought the orphaned car. He used to joke than he needed an armored car in case he ever got the forecast wrong. Only in L.A.
Now that is an interesting story! Thanks for sharing. Hopefully the drug lord was killed in another car and not that one!
I can't get over this one: Witnesses thought the Bentley's driver was drunk because he hit the median, but they didn't notice the car directly next to the Bentley repeatedly firing at it?
