Most modern F1 drivers would not step foot in the death traps of the past, can't say i blame them. As far as Senna and Schumacher , yes they did have some exceptional drives , however I don’t believe it is realistic to expect something similar in the modern cars , too much car and aero , the drivers can only do so much . We have been watching the likes of Alonzo languishing mid field or lower in ****ty cars and all their talent cannot overcome the current formula .

Sorry, Just saw the post. The important question is ...... WHAT does it mean to you? ;) From your question it seems that you assume that it could be about ill will to a certain British driver.

I remember when Jim CLark was bringing his car home (usually way up front) and when checked after the race it has:
    a) more tire left
    b) more brakes left
    c) less damage to chassis
    d) less wear on the transmission
,... than the driver in the otherwise identical car.

It does (DOES)have something to do with the driver, a lot more than we sideliners generally understand.

Sounds to me a not so cryptic or clever way of stating you'd like to see Lewis killed in racing car. Please do correct me if I'm wrong...

So you say he did not loose the WDC against Nico because he was unlucky with the engine like the LH fans constantly point out but because he overstressed it more than his opponent?
Certainly the driver is responsible for the tires but I think apart from crashing very much all the other things are well monitored from the pits and the engineers could tell a driver when he misuses his car and correct him

Generally agree...the kind of mechanical sympathy Mitch talks about re: Clark etc. is a mostly lost art (certainly at the f1 level) where all the systems are managed and inputs are all fly-by-wire. To a large extent, the car is going to protect itself regardless of what the driver is doing.

I don't think anyone outside of the Merc Team REALLY knows whether the driver was at fault or just had some "bad luck" and we never get this data, either.

But long term (McLaren and Merc) Lewis has had fewer mechanical issues than team mates.

Well, Alonso had dragged the 2012 POS to second in the WDC. Clifford i think was the car's name. Alonso was probably the last guy can do something modern cars.

As you so kindly asked, here is my opinion, don’t complain, you asked

I think, but I may be wrong, that the theme for this show was ‘camp’ wasn’t it.... I bet little Elton’s ears perked up at that, as he managed to capture ‘camp’ and effeminate very effectively in his ensemble. I’m only surprised he didn’t turn up in a skirt and kitten heels, but then again, all his fans would find it very hard to keep arguing about his masculinity if he went full ‘dame Edna everidge’ wouldn’t they......... Christ, does he not look in the mirror and think ‘if someone else wore this, would I think they are a tool?’ before he goes out?, clearly not
