Just starting a thread about my 2002 Carrera race car. It's running all the GMG bits, AST 5300s, GMG exhaust, Forgelines, etc. Next on the list of things to do are: strobing lights (VLN style), fixed lexan slider windows, RSR bumper, suspension adjustments, BGF R1-S's, center locks from a 996 cup car, and WHEELS! The car got down to a 1:55 laptime. For comparison, a WC 997 GT3 was running a 1:51. With some work I think we can get another two seconds off our time. Here's a video from the four day weekend. I didn't bother with any video except Monday. nice car but maybe you had better remount the camera in a better angle so as to see better out the front of the car
Thank you! I actually just ordered a new camera that will link into my Traqmate system (and install it closer to the window so the view is clear). The next event is in two weeks, so I'll have better video then. On your RSR do you have a vinyl tint for the headlights or is it a transparant paint? I'm debating how to yellow mine at the moment.
Thanks for the info. Sharp car, congrats! Do you track it much? Oddly enough, on Friday there was a 996 RSR with the sprint motor. He was running 1:49 times. Makes me seem slow running in the 1:55-2:00 region. Great sounding cars. Is yours sequential?
Video from the PCA event last weekend. With 7 full trackdays (30 heat cycles) on the BFG R1's, my fastest time was 1:58.8. Not bad considering I've only got about 15 hours in the car. Seems fantastic that I'm only 6 seconds off a WC prepped 997 GT3 cup. Must be doing something right!
