Bermuda Run Luncheon and Rally 2005 - Saturday, June 4th --------------------------------------------------------- (Take a moment, and recall the beautiful sight of Bermuda Run Country Club overrun with Ferraris...) Ok, flash forward.... Ferrari driving season is upon us!! After a long winter of hibernation, spring is alive with the smells of oil, gasoline, leather, and burning tires. I'm trying to get everything arranged for this year's Bermuda Run Luncheon and Rally -- likely on Saturday June 4th. This year, we'll have a few twists and turns and hopefully BUST through last years attendance. Can 30 cars fit at BRCC? You bet! CAFÉ group drive from Charlotte to BRCC Luncheon/Concours on the golf course Rally through the Piedmont Door prizes Malted beverages, of the ice cream variety. Video & photography. Anyone have access to a helicopter? Last year, we had some attrition after the luncheon because of the perceived "long" drive. Those that ran the whole rally were rewarded with an incredible route. Personally, I remember collapsing in laughter in the parking lot of Hanging Rock State Park after an amazingly spirited drive -- chasing a Countach and Modena the whole way. Just how did that white Testarossa get back to Winston Salem so quickly??? We're aiming to make the rally portion shorter this year prevent attrition, and keep the M3/Porsche crowd from getting lost. **************************************************** To really blow the doors off, we're going to team with the FCA and make the VIR Track Weekend (April 30/May 1) and Bermuda Run a double-whammy. If you register for the VIR track day, your attendance at Bermuda Run will be FREE for you and co-pilot!! Registration information for the VIR Track Day can be found at: http://www.fca-nc.com **************************************************** All registration for Bermuda Run will be handled on-line this year via this link: http://ricambiamerica.com/product_info.php?products_id=261157 If you have any questions, please let me know! I'll sign up tomorrow!!! I had a blast last year even though my fellow rally drivers got us extremely lost!!! hahaha I redeemed myself in charlotte for the cafe event!!! from last to first woohoo!!!
Just spoke with Mr. CAFE himself (Kevin F). It looks like the Charlotte crowd is representin' Mad driving skilz headed to BRCC!
Daniel: When you get the details nailed down, be sure to email me a few sentences so I can get it into the calendar section of the FCA NewsBulletin national publication. Mike Charness Director, FCA Southeast Region
Assuming that "resnow" is checking Fchat instead of rechecking his cams for the 100th time, he'll send you the wording. Right Bob? ;-)
damn, I was looking forward to this rally and am seriously bummed!!! I'm tracking at rockingham that weekend. oh well, next year
Daniel: This event sounds like it will be almost as much fun as the Tail of the Dragon only without the snow. I wish I were going to be around. I am scheduled to be at CMP that weekend tearing up another set of tires and brake pads. Hope you have a great time. Rob
Rob - Why not let your "better half" and "the evil twin" join us in the Spider, while you destroy the Maser at CMP? Don't they deserve to have some fun too? -d
Apparently I don't get to have any fun... ever. Kind of ironic considering I'm the better driver between the two of us. Ahahaha. That sounds like great fun, but IIR, the "evil twin" and I (the "good twin") will be soaking up some rays on the Outer Banks with a friend. All I care about right now though is the end of the month. VIR here I come! Then if the outer banks starts to fall through I may just have to bring my Trailblazer and blow all your doors off!
Hey, I'm definitely up for it. I'm taking a summer class, so I won't be going anywhere for more then a weekend, so I could definitely make it down for the event. Would just have to convince dad it would be a good idea to let me come. We don't want that Spider sitting in the garage over the weekend now do we?
Ok, Ok, if either one of the evil twins, which ever wants to answer to that "handle" wants to show up; and they can drive BEHIND another responsible driver; and they can talk their mother out of the car for the weekend, it happens to be her 25th college reunion, they are welcome to join you. How is that for being a trusting Dad? After the weekend at VIR they should have a new respect for their ability and what the car can do. I hope I don't regret it.
They can follow me, but I'll keep the pace down a few tenths from our drive to the dragon, because I wouldn't want any of that black ice to pop up again hahahaha GuardRail you'll never live this one down hahahaha
So after this weekend, I'm definitely up for this still. One question... I can't seem to find the RSVP by Date anywhere... and I need to know so I can give a friend some time to see if she will be able to come or not... Thanks in advance for any info.
Robert - We'll probably cut off the registration about 1 week ahead of the event. The Country Club gets kinda snippy if we reserve for 20 people, but 60 decide to show up! Good question... it's actually $30/person, because the bulk of our expense is the luncheon at Bermuda Run and the t-shirts we're having printed. There is also a goody bag for each car. Concours prizes include items from Griot's Garage. -Daniel
