Hey, There's a new interview with the Pygmy on his site. It's pretty "fluffy", but this I did not know; Has anyone seen the referenced documentary? Apparently it debuted in Austin, but beyond that I haven't come across it. Sounds like some good viewing. Cheers, Ian The full interview; http://www.formula1.com/news/interviews/2012/12/14153.html
Did some digging & no release date has been set as yet according to; http://www.comingsoon.net/films.php?id=96614 Pretty good line up of folk getting interviewed too. Hopefully, it'll be out "soon". Cheers, Ian
+1 Did anyone get to the premier in Austin? Dunno what the delay in release is all about? Unless it was a "rough cut"? Cheers, Ian
In the book about ecclestone it describes the meeting they are referencing... Ecclestone offered the rights and wanted some invest, ent as well and the y'all told him nope, they want the prize -starting money funds to go up.... Bernie is right that he took all the risk.
F1 is a business, you sell the TV rights, not share them. Bernie is a great businessman and F1 will suffer once he is gone.
I wonder what F1 would be like today if the tv rights were split and not soley controlled by one person?
Err, no. He very definitely offered to share his new rights. Of course, it's Bernie we're talking about here, so we know it wasn't for free! They declined and simply asked for more start/prize money as confirmed by Tom. +1 But, not according to many here however. Although, when asked how exactly F1 will be better without him answers aren't so forthcoming. We really know so little about him. I suspect that despite his denials he already has succession taken care of one way or another. Cheers, Ian PS - Tom, which Bernie book? The one by Susan Watkins?
Out of business with WRC, MotoGP and Lemans left as the remaining premier motorsports exports from Europe.
Beg to differ there. Rather than Bernie becoming a gazillionaire, there'd be 10 or so billionaires! - As long as they allowed him to continue to run it of course. Of course, even though hindsight tells us the story Bernie has still made many of them very, very wealthy. The main reason they only rarely ***** about him - At least in public. Cheers, Ian
An organization such as F1 cannot be run by a committee. Without a czar like leader such as Bernie, F1 will be doomed.
