Thank You Mr. Ecclestone, but we like Kimi best when he does his talking on the track. http://f1.gpupdate.net/en/news/2007/10/25/ecclestone-dennis-handed-raikkonen-the-championship/ Bernie Ecclestone has hit out at the McLaren Formula 1 team for giving away the Formula One World Championship with a silly strategy error in the final round of the 2007 F1 season. Ecclestone couldn't believe it when he saw McLaren bring in Hamilton in the early stages of the race for an extra pitstop. He believes that mistake caused Hamilton to miss the title. "Ron gave Raikkonen the championship," Ecclestone told The Mirror. "If he hadn't called Hamilton in for that silly low fuel and soft tyres stint he could have won the championship. He made no time on the road and lost 25 seconds making the stop. If he had only lost 15 seconds he would have been fourth. "I feel sorry for Lewis after his performances this year as a rookie. Raikkonen is champion. I just hope he starts talking more."
Why feel sorry for him? Best rookie season EVER. I'm sure Kimi would talk a lot more if the postrace interviews were conducted in his native tongue. IMO he is choosing his words carefully in a language that is clearly not his first.
I was wondering when the biggest *****head involved in motorsport was going to start talking like this. Sorry Bernie we don't like F1 because of your wallet, we just like it. And for pete's sake will everybody stop sheltering the poor boy LH, he fncked up. The only fnck up that RD made was not treating Alonso as number 1 as he should have. It would have helped LH's career and it would have given McLaren the win that they so desperately needed (expecially after the cheating scandle). And yes even LH has lots to learn, and yes Alonso would and was teaching him until LH's head exploded with idiotic ideas that he was greater than every other driver on the grid. I do feel sorry for LH, because in the end HE cost McLaren the drivers WDC in the last 2 races with massive mistakes. Yes we all make them, me more than most, but they unfortunately were big mistakes for not just him but the whole team. All he had to do was drive around in circles keeping out of trouble ... instead he played racer. Lauda must have smiled to himself about young fools ... Pete
ROFLMAO. You gotta give it to Bernie;he's consistent . He's said the same sh*t before Brazil and now his worst nightmare has become reality. My first reaction when I read this was WTF. At least congratulate Kimi and his fans first before insulting him.
No doubt. Actually, I was delighted to see Kimi talking and, gulp, smiling as much as he did. As far as Hamilton goes--he's obviously a great driver, but he lost it for himself in the last couple races.
lets face facts here : Bernie wanted Hammi to win the WDC so bad, because, in that way he'd be 'replacing' Michael Schumacher.
Yes, you did. An Ad-Ghoulash attack if ever we heard one. Nice to hear from you again...and yes, maybe LH will be able to "get it in gear" next time around!
As wonderful for F1 as LHs WDC would have been, I don't see RD cutting off his nose to spite his face.
Bernie wants Kimi to talk more. I and many many others want Bernie to talk less. In fact, just shut up, Bernie. It's real easy to second guess from the sidelines. Until you have run a WCC and WDC team, I would suggest you take Finnish lessons. I don't think the head of a sport should be so blantantly biased and rooting for a specific driver. It would be like the Commissioner of Baseball or the head of the NFL rooting for a team in the World Series and Superbowl. Aren't they supposed to be impartial? Having this jerk at the head of F1 really hurts the image of the sport IMVHO.
That just about sums it up. When you think about it, it is unbelievable how bad he screwed up. He just needed a few points out of two races, yet he who was on the podium almost every race, can't manage. Unreal. I guess it is called pressure and coping with it. Or not.
Yes I do wonder about that, but I don't think this happened because it went against what Bernie so desperately wanted (wasn't it great ), ie. LH winning. Pete
Phil, I guess 1981 and 1983 when Nelson Piquet won the WDC for Brahbam (which Bernie owned) does not count?
ROTFLMAO Why is it you guys always jump on the 'hot driver of the moment' ? In 2006 it was Nico Rosberg, that lasted about 3 races and you guys all-but ignored him.... Yes, I realize LH's 'hot' has lasted all season, but nonetheless..
Those were some awesome times, weren't they ? Hard to believe that was 25 friggin' years ago, where did the time go ?
