I was about to write about one of their barn finds coming up for auction but realized I only have one good story that I got when I met them around '70-72 when I went to Anaheim and they had a Ferrari showroom and were lamenting they had collected all these great cars, Ferraris, like a 400SA and nobody wanted them. i drove one around a bit, tahen their salesmn Paul Ebeling took out a Lola T70 for me(which caught on fire) but I felt sorry for Berz & Peters because they were college professors not used to the hard knocks and chsnging tastes of the classic car world. Well that was almost 50 years ago, now that some of their cars are worth millions I don't feel so sorry anymore,,,but anybody got a funny story?

I had the good fortune to do a summer "internship" as a mechanic for them at their Meridian Ferrari shop in 1969. Fun story- I had built a vw based Meyer's Manx dune buggy I set up more as a slalom racer (wide F1 Firestones, etc). On my way home one day saw a couple guys working on building one in their driveway, so stopped to see if I could give pointers. Turned out to be my psych prof, Fred Peters and Chuck Betz. They told me about their Ferrari shop and asked if I'd like a mechanic job. I didn't hesitate. Lots of interesting days/nights that summer. That experience really impacted my life. Wish I could contact Chuck (I see sadly the Mr Peters has passed). If any one has contact info for him, or maybe his son Brooke, I'd appreciate. Image Unavailable, Please Login
