Anyone using a real active jammer? Not one of those p.o.s. passive ones, I mean the real deal. I know most states they are illegal but, hey $$$ talks B.S. walks. I have a scorpion XP which is only good for x and k but, is to ugly and bulky for me. Any info is appreciated.

To cover yourself against active, pulse, monopulse and continuous wave radars, there's the ALQ-211 Suite of Integrated RF Countermeasures, which combines detection, jamming, and expendable countermeasures.

For the laser sets, there's the Suite of Infrared Countermeasures, combining the AAR-57 Common Missile Warning System with the ALQ-212 Advanced Threat Infrared Countermeasures, including Infrared Jam Laser and improved flare dispenser.

For the "proactive response", there's the AGM-88A/B HARM anti-radiation missile. If you're not concerned with legality ...

Of course, these aren't exactly pocket sized, either.

Try not to destroy your garage door opener, eh? ;)

But hey, motorists equipped with anti-radiation weaponry might at least cut down on all that cell phone use. :D

The problem with the active jammers available is that they only cover X and K band, and now that it's gotten much less expensive, more police agencies use Ka band, so you wouldn't have full protection.

By the way, I did a real tests of several different jammers and wrote up the results in two articles in the FCA NewsBulletin, and the better X and K jammers DO work. You can read them at www.ferrariclub.com/faq/jammers.html

I still have my Phantom RCD but I don't use it... I find that the Valentine One full range detector is sufficient for my driving needs.

Phantom is working on a Ka version of the RCD, supposed to be out before year-end. Tests I've seen on other Ka jammers (such as the Scorpion Ka) show it to be of little use. I plan to run another test for the FCA News when the new Phantom is available.

I have heard the phantom and the scorpion XP are the exact same thing down to the very last nut and bolt. Jus that the scorpion was banned by FCC. As far as the jamming devices used on a F-16 fighter plane, where the heck would one get these?

Now you're talking. So I'd be loosing off a missile to take out the radar gun, (and maybe the policeman, his car, a bit of the fauna and a house or two), but I wouldn't get any points on my licence, right ? :)
