I live at the opposite end of the country so I can't make any recommendations on which school to go to but I would be careful mixing the concepts "best" and "cheapest" in the same sentence. You usually get one or the other but not both.

I did all my training in Florida.

    Want to do it cheap?

    1. Don't take your lessons at a towered airfield.
    2. Once you have the plane in the air make your lessons as long as possible. In other words. Do 6 hour lessons. Not 2 hour lessons.

If your in Jacksonville I can hook you up with my guy. PM me.

In my humble opinion about lesson duration, As an ex-student many years ago, an ex-instructor at Boeing for 12 years, I think that the most important process is to keep the lessons short but but also at a short interval and in a steady sequence. Give the student just enough to digest in each lesson then move to the next lesson while things are fresh and reviewable from the previous lesson , and keep the string consistent and hooked together.

On the West Coast, SNA airport Sunrise Aviation is the best.

Why would you look for cheap?

Its like hoping Ferrari F-1 replaces Raikonenn with Adrian Sutiel.....wait a minute!

But truthfully, unlike most things its better to learn in training before seeing things for the first time alone. Money doesn't make a lot of difference then.
