With Electromotive no more, what is the best electronic conversion option? I know both Dinoparts and ATS Racing offer kits, but are there any others? Between those two, which is preferred?

Kits sure make life easy ;)

Litterally any efi ecu will do a fine job with ignition for you it you want to do a DIY setup.

I have the Dino parts ignition setup and it's pretty straightforward to install and set up. It's a bit pricey but I'm happy with it.

Insomuch as the cams are connected to the crank, I installed a lumenition pick-up as described by Adrian for the Fiat Dino and 308's and it's been doing great. The next step would be to turn the optical wheel forward to significantly advance the timing and then to use this signal as a trigger for a programmable ignition :)
Ok, it's probably more trouble than the commercial setups, but excellent DIY fun!

I started looking for a back-up plan a couple years ago. These folks offered the ME100 Gen-X as a programmable ignition only system.
When my Electromotive system went down last month, Clewitt Engineering provided a replacement pickup sensor for my XDI-2 system and recommended the PE3-IG2, programmable ignition system.
Eventually, I tracked down my Electromotive system problem to a loose ground at the battery, on top of a failing (new) starter motor.

Not at the crank but at the cam - OMD aka Otsuka Maxwell Design aka Steve Maxwell in San Diego is making these meant for 308 motors as a direct bolt on to where the alternator goes- best for a direct fire ignition setup. But better to run both this and a crank sensor to the computer for multiple sources of data collection for the brain to have best info to control the spark.

Cams belts/chains stretch which alters timing in the engine over time. The bigger issue is the cams themselves twist so timing at the front of the engine is different front the rear. NASCAR teams were grinding custom distributor parts to get all the cylinder fining the same at the rpms they cared about. A crank mounted setup fixes that stuff, not that its a very big concern for normal operation, but maybe a 1% or 2 at the limits which matters racing.

I meant to say distributor. Interesting all the factors that can affect timing
