Tough call. Lots of places in Houston with good BBQ. I don't think I have ever had "bad" BBQ in Houston. To each their own. But for me personally I like good old Luthers the best. It think because I like their sauce the best.

Others I have tried that were good, in no particular order..

    County Line BBQ
    Drexler's
Otto's (George Bush Sr's Favorite spot)
    Goode Co.

My brother used to take me to a place called Moe's out on FM 1960. It was a trailer with a smoker in it! I used to have him freeze brisket for me to take home on the plane!

Kreutz Market was worth the drive!

    Goode Company is great!

BBQ of a different sort - Fogo de Chao is phenomenal albeit a bit expensive.

I don't think it's there anymore. I drove by awhile back, and it liked it was something new. My parents took me there every week as a kid. Best sauce EVER.

I like Smokey Bones on 249 South of 1960. Prices are good, serving size is more then I can usually eat, always a big crowd and the meat is superb.

Some I remember. I had to look up the addresses as I am not from Houston but have eaten at a lot of different places there when on business and in training.

As you can see, I avoid the chain restaurants as you find the same offerings anywhere you go. I like finding the local establishments and like to find the things they are known for with the locals.......

    Smokey Bones????LOL!

Well, the new Drexler's destroyed the old pit as they moved, it's upscale now..

Thelma's downtown still makes it with love, lunch only if I'm not mistaken...worth looking for.

I like Lyndon's on 290 at Hollister, they are family owned and do a good pulled pork...as well as great ribs...

William's smoke house in Acres Homes, I parked the Ferrari by some horses tied to the trees and gave my Forza to a little kid, as I left......he was with grand mom apparently.....

"What ya readin' Mister? What's your name, Mister?"

Pick me up on the way, we'll go look around......

j/k Mike, glad to hear Smokey Bones is good, we just built it....what about The County Line out that way???...a spin off of the Austin location, IIRC.
