What is the best car around $50k in your opinion?

I know the Nissan Z and the Infiniti are under $40k, but included in the option.

well to correct you...the M3 at base price is 48, 000... by the time you're done with options and taxes, its close to 60k... So, buy around 50k, what do you mean? The 350Z and G35 cars are less than 40k...so im confused....

Otherwise it depends what you want out of the car... The best allround car would probably be a bmw 330 coupe, with the performance package.
The Elises are very inpractical...the Corvette may be a good by, but are they really that cheap? The new ones are in the 60s i thought?

The 350z race package is not an upgrade at all. Nismo added more weight then they did HP.

None on that list. IMHO, the new Mustang GT is the best car for under $50k.

Im a big Elise and M3 fan, but i think in means of overall performance/usability blah blah....the new Vette is looking like the best.

If were just looking for performance here, Elise is the winner hands down.

best depends on what you are looking for and what the intended uses of the car will be....for an everyday, fast, reliable car, i would take a m3....the vette is smaller inside, and the c6 was a let down to me after the c5..crappy manual tranny, horrible exhaust note and poor steering feel and too much body roll, even with the z51 tranny...the elise is the toy, the g35 is a nice daily drive , same drive train as the z car, can be had with 4 wheel drive in the mid 30s...the z car is more of a 30k car and not inthe same league sports car as the vette or the m3....

Since you asked for a car not a sports car, I voted for the m3.

... seats 4, fast, comfortable, & trunk space.

Not out yet, but the Dodge Charger SRT-8. I think it is expected to be in the $35K range, coming with 425HP/420TQ. Throw $15K worth of upgrades, and I will take that.

I voted M3, but its going to be really light on options or have low miles on it to get under 50k. Of course if you are going used anyway, then you open yourself up to many more choices. 996's, vipers, z06 vette (old body style), all in that range plus a host of luxerious cars.

Wait for the GT500 Mustang. C&D has a test in the new magazine, 475 hp.

If it is your daily driver get the M3 or G35. If you are a 50 year old guy trying to regain your youth, get the Corvette (it is a popular choice of that segment).

If you want to be different and if you want to get the right car, get the elise.

I voted M3, but if any new car were an option, my personal pick would be a Volvo V70R. Those who aren't into the wagon shape would prefer the S60R. They are under $40k, but I would pick them over anything in the $50k price range.

I would go Elise because I love that car and couldn't care less about user friendliness.

are u actually going to count used cars like the NSX or 993? in that case, put me down for a 993 C2S.....more fun, less depreciation; a running classic!

They're in the $50's ( high $50's for a low mile 2000) but close enough...Maybe a 1999 car if you want to be right at $50k.
