Over this past weekend in Bakersfield Ca. we organized a 1st time gathering of Ferrari and Lamborghini owners. Despite the inclement weather we ended up with 11 participants and an incredible variety of cars. Everyone expressed a desire for future get togethers.

In order to keep it interesting and to try and attract more participants we would like to come up with some unique and fun get togethers. Besides the standard drive and dine concept, has anyone attended a car group event that was unique and fun?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

The local FOC chapter put on a concours/Grand Prix viewing last year at a member's estate. It's (much) more involved than the casual get together, but the idea of having it based around a race, or have a Top Gear 'fest, or whatever - gave us a chance to hang out a socialize, as well as check out everyone's car.

No, no, no. You got it all mixed up.

Drive to Tijuana. Buy tequila. Drink tequila. Tour the brothels. Sleep it off. Buy more tequila. Drive home. That works.

Tour to something like Ronald McDonald House and let the kids look at the cars, maybe let them ride around in the parking lot if there's room

In addition to the above posts, we've had charity runs, wine tastings (moderation is the key here), orphanages (sp?), karting, track days, etc. Basically any excuse to get together and drive. :)

Owners, if someone lives in Austria, or nearby Hungary, please contact me, because we'll make our Tuning Group's 5th Big Meeting! We'll have VIP cars, veteran cars (Rolls Royce, Mercedes, Porsche, Skoda), there will be a several Ferraris, maybe 1 Lamborghini.

The last meeting was so huge, it has more than 300 cars, and 1500-2000 visitors (and was just a half day-long meeting) ...

We had our first get together at our house during the Indy 500 and had some nice food and drinks, but only a handful of people showed up. Last year we had one timed around the Kentucky Derby and had about 30 cars. There was also a karting event about five miles away so some of the attendees could enjoy that also, and gave another excuse to make the drive up for the party.

Thanks Everyone. It seems from some of the suggestions that maybe some of the other existing car clubs might be a good source of partnering up with them for some of their events.

Bob - Your Las Vegas Group is very impressive!

    Thanks

Very true. On one of our rides around Palm Beach an Fchatter posted about it on the Lotus board and about 6-8 Lotus drivers showed up. It was great having a big variety of marques driving around the island.
