best car sound

Huracan, 458, FF, Gallardo, 430, 355, 360, 911.

I have no direct experience with C8 and therefore no relevant comp. I assumed no upgrades to exhausts, hence the lower 355 rank. Also don’t know what years for 911.

 

365 GTC4 and 365 GT4 2+2.

I thought it has been determined that that video is a fake and the sound was dubbed in.

 

The 360 challenge stradale was the best factory exhaust sound in the last 30 years

I prefer 458 esp spider guise.
But no faulting the CS as it is wonderful.

 

I've only heard three of those (Huracan, 458 and F430) and I am not really sure which one is better. The F430 had a nice baritone, really rumbled. The 458 revs nicely and really screams. The Huracan crackles and pops and downright howls. Feels a little synthetic at times but real loud.

 

Second place is a F360 with a Tubi ripping down PCH in the fog.

 

If we are allowed to cheat a bit here…FGT with racing exhaust. No comparisons.

I could send you a video but it just doesn’t capture the sound or the feel. Somewhat like the AM Valk, you can feel the vibrations and sound waves.
Bring that new M2 on out here and visit Scotty and I.

 

I have owned a bunch of fun/ amazing cars in the past, but the best sound was our 1995 355 Spider at full 8,500 rpm wail in the Addison Airport tunnel.

 

+1, mine even takes it one step further.....Ford Racing cat delete with custom no muffler exhaust

When I first got it I set up a camera on a tripod to record it.....the first time I revved it the tripod toppled over and broke the camera

 

I assumed this was a poll for stock exhausts……coz if it isn’t, then my 430 with AP headers sounds like Thor with a screaming headache!

 

If we are allowed to cheat a bit my 2016 Shelby Gt 350 , flat plane crank at 8200 rpm makes me smile every time.

 

Best sounding street Ferrari I think is the 355. Not even a V12!! Best sounding Ferrari 12's are the F1 boxer 12's from the 1970's, and the early 1990's F1 V12's. BRM and Matra V12's are also on a different level. You had to go to races to hear the best sounds, and you still do. F1 does not sound half as good as it used to.

I also loved the 333SP's when I heard them at Daytona in the 1990's, and they had V12 engines based on the early 1990's Ferrari F1 cars, although simpler.

The 2000-2007 champion Ferrari V10 F1 cars also sounded great. I went every year to INDY F1 just to hear them.

 

Agree on your post, just to add:
I owned a 355 challenge car for ten years that I drove on out of town county roads; about as close as you will get to an older F1 engine. What is unfortunate is as a driver you don’t get the full orchestration of that V8, mind you they do sound fantastic just a little quieter.
If you have ever attended a 355 challenge race, wow what a sound those cars can produce.

 

I am shocked people are even mentioning the 430. 458 is not that great either. If we are talking V8’s it’s impossible to sound better than the 355 & 360. The 355 with a Capristo exhaust is just an absolute stunning sound to hear in real life and most of you even saying a 458 or 430 I would bet have never heard a 355 a Capristo setup at full throttle. The V10 Lambo motor is overrated but the “ best “ sounding car is a Lamborghini Aventador with a Gintani exhaust is just something from out of this world.

 

Note what was written…stock. And here the 458 is much better. And I currently own a CS as well as a highly modified stage 3 355 manual!
To each their own, I have had most of the cars noted above and am hyper critical of sound and make it my priority when acquiring.

 

The V-10 in the Huracan generation of cars sound really good..... and they don't use particulate filters that really hinder Ferrari.

 

As good as the V8 Ferraris mentioned above as well as the Lambo V10 and Porsche 6 none of them hold a candle to the Ferrari 12s
The flat 12s of the 70s were best but the subsequent V12s were close. This is not to take away from the Ferrari 8s as they are screamers however I believe the question was for stock cars. Modified exhaust is another story- some wonderful and others downright nasty sounding
