What do you think is the best Exotic or Supercar for under 35K. Not best every day driver but best "fun" car for the weekends. I have a 93 Dodge Viper and love it. But I came close to buying a 308, a NSX, and a Z06. Never drove a NSX but did drive a 308 and a Z06. Both incredible cars especially the 308..........amazing to drive. The truth is if the 308 had just a little more power I think I would have picked one up instead. But it didn't so I bought a Dodge Viper. What would your choice be? Any car under 35K used or not.
hmm, thats tough, but i'd pick the viper with the nsx in a close second, followed by the 308 then off in the distance the zo6 as forth.
I am a big fan of Lotus 7s (Caterhams, Birkins etc...) as pure, cheap fun with high performance around a race track. I would guess that "best" depends on personal preference etc.. - but for my money a 7 is the answer (that's why I own one). They do not have lots of power - but with minimum weight they have the same power/weight ratio as more conventional super-cars. The steering and handling is as good and often better than other cars and while they are not classically beautiful - people seem to love seeing them being driven down the road.
I think the Viper would be fun as hell for a weekend car to stomp on. It is much faster than the NSX or 308. The Z06 is a different story. However, a vette is just so common, it would not be as special as any of the other cars. The NSX will leave a 308 in the dust, but the 308 offers a great ferrari experience, and everyone knows what it is thanks to Magnum. The beauty of the NSX is you can drive it every day and never worry about it
Porsche 930 3.3 Liter. 300 horsepower in a rear engine 2,855 lb package. Unlimited ability to modify and it just looks so damn good, slant-nose or not.
All of the cars mentioned above are great cars, but are all of them exotic and/or a supercar? I guess it depends on the definition of both, but a Z06 or 993 would not be considered an exotic (turbo, maybe, but not the standard 993). When I think of an exotic supercar I picture a rare performance car, when you see one you are like "wow look at that". Both of those cars might be a bit too plentiful to qualify for me. To each his own of course. My personal list of what I would consider to be exotic and a supercar would be: 1. Lotus Esprit S4 or SE (V8s are still over $35k) 2. 1996 Dodge Viper Shelby Edition (extremely rare, slightly different body than standard Viper) 3. Lamborshini Jalpa (never seen one on the road) 4. Ferrari 308GTB (still stops people in their tracks after 30 years) 5. 1978-79 Porsche 930 (a performance icon, still gorgeous) 6. Maserati Merak (Bora too much $$$, Merak is truly exotic though) 7. 1990 Corvette ZR-1 (much more rare and exotic than Z06)
2.A 1996 Dodge Viper Shelby Edition? I thought I knew a lot about Vipers never heard of that one. But I do know that a good 1996 Viper is hard to find for 35K. 3. I was thinking of a Jalpa (seen a few) They sound great, heard they run great, and there more exclusive than a ENZO. But only around 400 made very hard to get parts. Plus not as much power as I would have liked. I love Lambos (see screen name) but it would have been a tough to give up power and the ability to get parts that I have with the Viper. Although I Should have looked into one before I bought the Viper.
Buy another Viper. I'm selling mine to get an RT10 and mod the piss out of it. I've also looked at a few NSX's. Sweet looking and running cars, but the power just isn't there without mods. Only the Viper and NSX are good half-assed exotics. The Lotus is a maint. nightmare.
http://www.popartuk.com/general/mopar-evolution-st3142-poster.asp If I remember correctly, the changes were unique wheels, no vertical or horizontal cross pieces in the nose. All were white with blue stripes, each signed by Shelby. I think 150 were made.
Oh I am keeping my Viper just wondering what others would buy. Why are you selling yours to get a RT/10?
Sorry, Srt/10. The S makes a big difference. You can have my 600hp 5K mile 98GTS for 55K. What the hay, just a tad over 35. 94 nsx with 38K miles on autotrader asking 39K said they will take 34K on the phone. It's got wheels and slight body kit. If it wasn't so slow I'd buy it.
I think the Lotue Esprit is a good choice. However, how can a Ferrari owner call any other car a maintenance nightmare? Isn't that the pot calling the kettle black?
Easy. DeTomaso Pantera. Cheap to mod, easy to maintain, and has actually increased in value over the years (worth roughly 3 times what it sold for originally).
