What are some of the best experiences you have had with you Ferrari?
Well first ferrari experience was when someone tossed a 20 year old me the keys to his testarossa and said have fun try to be back in an hour or so. I drove the sh** out of it 180 degree burnouts running to over 150 etc. Most fun has been in the boxer going into bends at 90 comming out at 120 and then rolling to the top of 4th gear before slowing for the next bend for a few miles. Most recently took 5 year old for some tame laps on a track.
Going 200+ mph flat out in the 575 when an Enzo slowly pulled past me... I think number two would be the Ferrari driving course. That was fantastic.
Following James MkIV in a Modena @ Bear Mountain Drive. Following a Maser Coupe and a Barchetta @ 150 mph on the highway. As a Passenger in a Stradale under heavy rain at MAgny COurs.
Here are a few of the many: Driving my 550 Maranello on the PCH between Carmel and Marro Bay with an old friend, and camping out at the Post Ranch Inn to do so for 3-4 days; The R&T shoot of my 550 Barchetta, which took 3 days; Pat Hong and Roger Scheidrin, the photographer, stayed at my house for the duration, and enjoyed many great meals and stories; dinner with Denise McCluggage in Santa Fe after calling her for help in shipping a Ferrari to New Mexico; Watching the open flatbed bearing my brand new black/black 550 barchetta turn on to my street for home delivery of my then 6th Ferrari; racing a Daytona, almost flat-out, in my Berlinetta Boxer, on a four lane highway in Pennsylvania, on the way to a car show; drag racing with Jim G.'s GT 40 on Rt 22; hearing a BB/LM at Limerock; watching a 250 SWB run at Limerock; picking up my then brand-new 355 GTS, back in 1999 in Philadelphia, after flying in from the West Coast, burnt-out and sleepless from nonstop work, and finally getting clear of traffic on 287, having a BMW M driver challenge me, and opening the car up, roof off, tubi screaming, half-delirious from lack of sleep and thrilled, once again, to be behind the wheel of a product from Maranello. And, those are just a few of many.

A friend who sells Ferrari's (and wants to remain nameless) heard of a boy of 10 or 12,who was deaf and then later was made a quadrapalegic in an accident who wanted more than anything else to go for a ride in an F40. It was arranged by a few locals to (as a surprise) bring the boy to the shop on his birthday. There was an assortment of loaned Ferrari's (including an F40) lined up for several hours of joy riding.
1. Seeing Niki Lauda's 312T up close (you could, back then) and getting his autograph, Watkins Glen, 1975. (And, he won the race!) 2. Sitting in a 308 at the dealership in Setauket, NY, about 1978. 3. Watching Gilles Villenueve drive a 312T4 to victory, Long Beach, 1979. 4. Seeing red in a big way at the Monterey Historics, 1994. 5. Sitting in Bud Moeller's 312T5, Watkins Glen, 1998. 6. Seeing a happy 13-year-old son of a Canadian friend sitting in Bud's car, Watkins Glen, 2000. 7. Being picked up at the Sacramento airport in a white Testarossa, 2004. 8. Seeing and driving my soon-to-be 328, Sacramento, 2004. 9. Watching the 328 being delivered, Marietta, 2004. 10. Going on a north-Georgia mountain drive with other Ferraris, 2004. 11. Seeing red again at the Concorso Italiano and Monterey Historics, 2004. And just about every (nice-weather) weekend since I bought the car!
A good friend of mine tossing me the keys to his recently restored 275 (shortnose) and telling me, "Kevin, I'm going to the Bahamas for the week. Why not take the car and enjoy yourself!" My parents were less than thrilled. Something about liability. I think that was in 1985 or 1986. he sold it a couple of years later, just before the prices skyrocketed. Memory #2 would be riding around Sebring in Ed Davies 512BB/LM and the driver, not Ed, spinning it on cold tires. " Axel, I don't think we hit anything." Memory #3 is Mr Lewis letting me drive his new F40 when they first came out. What impressed me was the (almost) violent acceleration with the absence of engine noise. These were in the pre-Tubi days. Without a question: It was riding in 3387 250 GTO on track at Roebling Raceway w/ a friend & race car driver at the wheel. It was a very good day. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Taking someone with one month to live on the ride of their life in a 360 Spider. Last wish sort of thing...very enlightening. Best selfish moment? Would never put it in writing.......
Any time I take my 8 year old nephew out in a Ferrari. He's a car nut in the making!! Actually, just about anything with a bit about it!
MY last wish was to have & hold a Ferrari & my dad knew it. My father died last December & just bought me a 328. He is smiling now.
That is simply stunning...hats off to all those who arranged it - thats how a model ferrari owner should be.
my first day being around lots of Ferraris, i got three rides in a 308GTS a 355 spyder and a brand new Enzo, i was 14, hats off to the FCA-NER guys
Passing a TR on the front straight of Portland International in my 355 Spider (top down)...both of us at WOT.
Gotta say my best was my Ride in Roland Linder's F40 LM at PPIR, followed closely by my ride in a yellow 360 Modena at PPIR, next was when I sat in an Enzo at Ferrari of Denver.
Being taken for a spin in a 308 when I was 10 years old. Going on an outing with the Ferrari club, in a Mondial T, my first exposure to really fast driving. Seeing about 50 Ferrari's all parked together in 1997 to celebrate 50 years of Ferrari. Seeing my first 355 in the metal as apposed to in a magazine. 3 hours in the passeger seat of a 348 with Tubi, chasing and racing various Porsches on the open road and over 3 mountain passes. Wathing on TV as Schumacher won Ferrari's first drivers companship since 1979. Being driven to my high school farewell in a 355F1 with Tubi. Cross country run in a 360 spider with a 355 in close attenedance, the sound through a tunnel was pure heaven. Also going 290 km/h in the 360 spider with the top down, truly amazing experience. Going to the dealer with a friend of mine when he collected his 360 modena, seeing the car unloaded from the crate. Driving the same car a week later
In chronological order my best times were: 1. Finding Ferrari Chat. The first thing I did when I got my computer and got online was to type in Ferrai 308 on Yahoo. I was elated to find that there were other people like me who lusted after these cars and watched magnum p.i. over and over again just to see the car! 2. The first time I went to the Greenwich Concours I was besides myself I had never seen so many Ferrari's. The sounds were what affected me most here, when I heard all the V-12's firing up it literally brought tears to my eyes and I remember a dealer had the then new 360 there and as they were leaving they ran her right up to redline as I was walking under the 95 underpass and the sound of that motor echoing off the walls just topped off the Ferrari sound train for me! 3. This one was the grand daddy of my experiences, when I FINALLY yes FINALLY after waiting and lusting for over 20 years I FINALLY got to not only sit in a Ferarri but drive one. I had come close many times but I had never even gotten to sit in one. I found one for sale and I was actually serious about buying it, I took the two hour ride out to see it the dealer brought it out and I will never forget driving it. It was an 83 euro 308 red/tan and I was just besides myself, I loved everything about it, the shifter, the acceleration the handling, it was a goal I had been waiting to achieve for over 20 years. I hope someday to have one of my own to enjoy at will.
