Best Ferrari Roads on a round trip of the USA

Thanks for the list. I was going to remind you about it since you had mentioned that you were going to post it a couple of weeks ago. But I figured you were busy catching up. I'm planning a little road trip myself, and hopefully will have a chance driving some of these roads.

 

How many tickets did u get, if any?

Which road have the most patrols? Do u have a radar detector?

How long did it take you?

I'm think about driving cross country myself some day, maybe up to Canada and Alaska...

 

Wow - I'm surprised at how many of those (on the West Coast/Canada only) I've been on already. I-84 on the Oregon side is OK but you get virtually no traffic and different views from the Washington side on SR14. 84 stays mostly at the bottom of the gorge while the Washington side gets you up above it and you can see just how much work the Columbia did in cutting the gorge. Also on the Oregon side the Historic Columbia Highway runs for 30 or so mile from Troutdale and while a bit twisty in spots gets you a lot closer to all of those waterfalls (esp. Multnomah Falls) in your car than I-84.

Unfortunately when we were on the Icefields Parkway we went through a blizzard so didn't go fast or see much...

Great list - I still need to do the Going to the Sun Road in Glacier NP - wife is a big Desi/Lucy fan so "The Long Long Trailer" comes to mind!!

Sounds like a great trip and the east coast bits are on my list.

When I get a ferrari/sports car I am definetly driving in UTAH and NEVADA as well as montana/canada and washington/Oregon as they are all easily within my reach and indeed have some great scenery and driving oppurtunities!

Damn I wish I could vacation that long and visit so many places! Only been in 6 states in the west and thats it though I have many places to see on my list of travels

Driving to alaska would be great or a cruise ship up there either way

Especially in a convertible!

 

MAybe a little cliched, but SR-1 north or south along the coast of California is a GREAT drive with a great view, literally along the coast for the entire drive.

The Road to Hana (the ultimate drive! leave EARLY in the morning)

CO:
US-82 from south of Leadville over Independence Pass to Aspen (awesome)
US-40 from Granby to I70 (really fast and twisty)
(then I-70 thru looong tunnel and onto Vail is quite fun)
CO-91 from I-70 to Leadville (relaxed twisties)
US24 from Leadville back to I-70 at Vail
US-6 from I-70 over Loveland Pass and down to Keystone
(and its not bad from Keystone back to I-70 at Dillon)
(Another fun stretch of interstate is I-25 from Raton to Trinidad -- fast.)
US-50 from Montrose to Gunnison, with detour into Black Canyon NM.
US-50 from Salida to Royal Gorge on on to Canon City.
CO-67 from Canon City down to CO-165 and then over to I-25 is nice.
Loop US-550 from Durango through Ouray to Ridgway, CO-62 to CO-145, south to detour into Telluride, then on down CO-145 to Cortez, then US-160 back to Durango. Detour into Mesa Verde NP... the twisties in there are great, though you won't be able to go real fast (safely).
US-36/34 through Rocky Mtn NP is very nice, but again you can't go too fast.

NM-14 from Sandia Park to Santa Fe
NM-4 from Santa Domingo thru Los Alamos over to Santa Fe

UT:
I've heard that UT-12 from Grover to Bryce Canyon NP is awesome.

Well, Somhow I posted this message on the wrong threadl.

Go figure. My selection is Highway 88 from Stockton Calif to Minden Nevada. It's a two lane (one lane each direction) road all the way. There's great scenery with some astonishing drop offs.

You'll go through two countys. Amador and Alpine. You'll see one or two CHP officers for each county. Alpine county is unusual because it does not have any traffic lights in it, and nearly one hundred percent of goods and sevices comes from outside the county. That includes gas, groceries, and other household items. There are a few caution lights though. That's a little unusual for California.

Another awesome drive is through Yosemite... the twisties are good, but the tunnels are awesome... perfect for enhancing that Ferrari sound.

That looks like an awesome event! But only if you have a Vintage sportscar.

They should do another such event for those of us with modern exotics.

 

highway 93, from the #1 Trans Canada Highway, to Radium BC. twisty, while descending. And after a day of driving through mountain passes, stop at the hot springs and take a dip.

 

Amen Brian. I've already tried to plead my case for a 1990 348, but with no luck.

 

They are letting modern exotics and cars of interest in. I am driving my 348 Challenge. Jump in!

 

Around here, we like GA-180 between Suches and Vogel State Park in the north Georgia mountains; sometimes this section is called the Snake.

If you run south to north, as we usually do, it starts out quite benign, but that soon changes! It doesn't match the Dragon, but it's more convenient to us. And there are other good roads in the vicinity.
