I recently took delivery on a nice '75 Argento 308gt4 with an all black interior from an Fchat member. I would like to change out the carpet set, nothing is really wrong with it but I think a red carpet would make the interior pop a bit. I'm familiar with World Upholstery but the Wilton Wool red sample was not such a nice red, a little on the pinker side. Anyone have experience with any other upholsterers here in the States that they were happy with. Thx, Pete.

First thing I'd do is visit local places and ask for the carpet color sample book till you find the color and quality you like.
Don't judge the book by its cover:
The original old carpet of my 308 looked a dark brown more than beige and it was glued to the floor. I took it to a well known upholstery place here in Dallas that has been portrayed in TV shows and I specifically chose a beige color but when I went to pick it up it was brown. The owner refunded my money and tossed the carpet to the trash. The second place, an small shop, suggested a carpet with a plastic bottom layer to help water/moisture insulation but most importantly for it to be heat molded to the shape of the floor instead of gluing it. That way it can be easily removed for cleaning or replacement. It took some trial and errors but I'm happy with the end result and the price was reasonable.

That looks really nice, I didn't know a carpet product like that was available. Did the upholsterer install the carpet or did you have to install using a heat gun or something similar?

Thanks. The shop installed the carpet using a heat gun and some hand tool to shape it in place. It also has industrial Velcro alone the edge.

Here was the original ad. First listed in the end of May 2018, was for sale for more then 2 years, being in VC could have turned would be buyers off. Under 4000 miles since the body and mechanicals were refurbished in 2008. It's has a very nice body with no rust, inside the bottom of the doors were totally spotless. I needed to replace the regulator on the alternator, unstick the passenger window motor, and realign the drivers window. Needs a bulk head cover, which I might have a line on and purchased an original steering wheel that's being restored now. It did not come with a maintenance history, but the step by step refurbishment was posted of Fchat. Was looking for a while so I took a chance and rolled the dice, I think I came out ok. Now it just needs to be driven!
