Just use good, fresh, fuel and drive it regularly. Let it gently get to operating temp then drive it like it's meant to be driven, through the entire RPM range, reaching redline at least once every outing. No token drives around the block.

    You won't need any additives.

Add a bottle of Swepco 503 to every tank. Your car will love you for it. Proven success with hard-driven, race-winning production ferraris.

Alternatively the redline brand of fuel system cleaner / fuel additives are very good. I believe SI-3 is the one you can add to every 3rd tank or so.

None in the US if you buy 'name brand' gas.

Unless you're running over about 10.5:1 compression ratio and need an octane booster because you can't get premium gas, premium pump fuel is fine. It has cleaners and anti-knock stuff already in it. The only caveat is to always buy gas from a busy station; it will have high turnover and less water will accumulate in their underground tanks.

You can add carb/injector cleaner every now and then but frankly I think it's a waste of money.

I put a little Marvel's Mystery Oil in my Boxer ever two or three tanks. It helps keep the top end lubed.

Would not recommend using anytype of additive to every tank or even every 3rd tank. If you store your car over winter months i may add a bottle of stabilizer, but i read an article that said using to much of an additive can cause damage to the seals.

To each his own, but it is not something that i would do on a daily bases.....i have seen certain addititives dry out and crack rubber parts so a Ferrari tech who makes his living off repairing these cars may disagree

I knew this discussion might get to one of my pet peeves and sure enough it did!
Top Tier gas, while it sounds great from the guy from one of the companies behind it, also contains 10% Ethanol, which decreases your fuel economy by ~2.5% on a fuel injected car and will cost you power by leaning out your combustion on a carbuerated car (assuming it was optimally tuned before). In this case, C&D bought the line of the company hyping Top Tier hook line & sinker, as there was no mention of walnut shell blasting to clean up intake valves. I've seen intake valve deposits in late model production engines, but not stuck valves.

Skip the Top Tier. Use Amoco/BP or Mobil if you can't stand the thought of putting generic gas into your fancy car. Dump in some Techron or Redline once a year if you insist. But... that's just my opinion.

Years ago Hot Rod Magazine published data from a test of STP gas treatment done on a Taxi fleet with and without treatment and then torn down to see. The results made a believer out of me. Untreated, full carbon build-up on the backs of valves and combustion chambers and tops of pistons. Treated motors were very clean. Whats not to understand? Running your motor all out most of the time will not clean out the carbon. I prefer an additive that contains upper cyl. lube with every tank and experiance motors that run very clean and seldom if ever need a tune-up.

heard of it, never tried it. people who use it swear by it.

yeah. decided to try in my truck, not impressed. Saw better results with Militec, at least for oil additives.

Someone explain this to me. Lubes what??? Aren't the cams, bearings, etc. already doused with oil?

Wouldn't adding oil to the gas effect the o2 sensor, catalytic converter, glaze the cylinder walls, foul plugs, etc?

bpu699, the area of combustion, that is the top piston rings and the valve guides on a normally running engine in good condition will have its upper end or the parts that I've mentioned actually dried out from gasoline and heat of combustion, remember gasoline has few lubricating properties and hense needs a bit of some help. I have seen motors torn down that had very good and functioning oil rings and valve seals, the cylinders were so dry visually to the point that you could take your finger and wipe the area and not detect any lube at all on your fingers.
Yes all other parts are lubricated internally by pure oil ,and valve seals and oil rings do their job by keeping the oil out of the combustion area until they wear significantly. This is normal. To postpone this wear, upper cylinder lube will garantee a longer more deposit free life.
