annnnnnnnnnndd..... go.
This should be fun - Miles Davis - Kind of Blue I have at least five others off the top off my head..
i'm a huge jazz fan. especially of the salad years 50s, 60s, and some of the 70s. asking which album is best is like asking me which of my children i love the most. certainly Blue Train and Kind of Blue are up in the top 5, if not the top 2. doody.
Feel free to expand the discussion as you see fit. I started the thread because I know ZERO about jazz and I want to start learning. I left my question very open ended, on purpose.
Dave Roll your radio over to 88.1 FM. KNTU out of the University of North Texas is all jazz (except Sunday morning). Good way to get a sampler platter of what's out there.
I caught it last night, hence the thread. Unfortunately the signal fades as I get into GP. [beavis] heheh. That radio station used to be KUNT right? heheh [/beavis]
First off, you cannot go wrong with any of the Miles Davis/Gil Evans recordings: 'Kind of Blue', 'Sketches of Spain' and 'Miles Ahead' are the first that come to mind. Be sure to check out his 'Birth of the Cool' album as well. I really enjoy Coltrane's 'Blue Train' and 'A Love Supreme' albums, Brubeck's 'Time Out'...there are so many. Have fun, - Chris
