As more and more cars come out with radar front and rear protection features all detectors will be giving false warnings. Watch your unit when a new Audi passes you and you are following it. Also some GM cars and Subaru's. If you are the 2nd fastest car on the road you never get a ticket. My 1st and only ticket was in 1964 for 4 in the front seat of my 63 Corvette.
I doubt a newer Valentine will help...what you are picking up are all the anti-collision systems installed in newer cars...there are certain models of Volvos, Mercedes, Lexus and Mazda (to name a few I have observed) that cause false laser warnings. I too, have an older Valentine, and have considered updating...but from what I have read, it won't help for those.
The latest technology/best system for your F360 is going to be a smart phone with the WAZE app. I use it religiously, and it works great on highways and freeways. For less traveled areas a Valentine One is my back up. But seriously, the WAZE is hard to beat, and gives you excellent, up to date info from other drivers.
I guess that would mean you are following to close. Just to clarify what I was saying if you are 50 car length's behind the 1st car you won't get tagged. Your cop detector is their brake lights. My BIL gave away 10 mph over the limit by setting his unit up to 12 mph over. He says laser is a death ray and the only way to pick it up is a stray hit from a car ahead of you. Then again they don't ticket all laser or radar hits it's up to their discretion. If they want you they got you. Good luck.
Valentine has a firmware upgrade for the V1 that will minimize the new collision avoidance alarms. if you type in the serial number it'll tell you if available. I was skeptical but did it to two of my V1's and it does work. Just an option...
Awesome to hear Bob, I will check it out today! Thank you. Edit: Just checked Bob, my unit is pretty old...probably last upgraded 9 years ago (V1.8) and while there are several upgrades I would receive by exchanging my unit, none of them are related to the frequent laser false alarms I receive. All of the proposed upgrades are related to various radar (K band) issues. My solution to that about 4 years ago, was to turn off K band reception. Where I live, the cops use laser and Ka band almost exclusively... It would appear there is no solution to laser false alarms, because the Valentine One IS detecting actual laser...explained on their website here: http://www.valentine1.com/Lab/AnsweredAlready7.asp
