stairway, kashmir, all of my love...
Ditto. Especially because they have songs for different moods. When the Levee Breaks is one of my favorites as well.
I have a "write-in" for "Carouselambra"... for some reason, this has always been my favorite Zeppelin song - and it's great for drivin'! (I often find a favorite in the "deep cuts" - my favorite song off Clapton's Slowhand is "The Core").
Going to California. " Spend my time with a woman unkind." " Smoke my stuff,,, and drank,,, all my wine." "Na na na." Edwardo
If this thread has proved anything its that Led Zeppelin is the greatest rock band of all time. I mean really...is there another rock band that has THIS many great songs ? I put up 22 songs and look at how many I missed ! (I did it by memory) I cant think of another band that even comes close.
They are by far. I voted for Rock n Roll but at any other moment it could have been any one of many. Even thought I am tired of Stairway to Heaven it is the single greatest rock and roll song of all time and it had the greatest affect on people of any single rock and roll song ever (two different things).
Geez Jerry.........they all kick azz. What's a guy to do ? But I gotta vote for Whole Lotta Love. Most powerful song they ever made. STH never did it for me.......
I had to go through my collection of songs to add a few more, it's really hard to just pick one. As you can tell I'm a fan of the Delta blues influence. In my Time of Dying Bron-Y-Aur Stomp Hats off to (Roy) Harper Celebration Day
This is more excitement than 1 person can have, so I will share this video with you. It is called "Lets have a Party Tonight" and if I am not mistaken Elvis did it on one of his earlier albums. Now if you are really, really into Zeppelin you will know that not only everyone in the world love him, but so did the members of Led Zeppelin, especially Robert for his singing and Jimmy for Scotty Moores guitar playing. This video is a "so so" lip sync, the original one was from Australia. I think this one shows the band better than the other one. Now for a little history about the band. It was in the mid seventies that the members of Zeppelin actually got to go and see Elvis preform at a show. Elvis had found out that the guys were going to be there, so in the middle of the show he actually says something like, "Well I better be on my best tonight, because we have the members of Led Zeppelin here with us." Robert Plant has said in interviews that his jaw hit the floor of the arena when he said that. Now for the best part, there is actually a bootleg of Elvis that has him saying that on it, so if you can find that, grab it. I think the show was in Las Vegas or Madison Square Garden in the mid 70's. Oh, here is the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpL5PKtoR50
from the Live BBC Sessions [DISC 2][Live] It just doesn't get better than that as it's combine with a few others and all improv!
Cool to see so many songs getting votes. Im surprised Im the only one so far to vote for Over The Hills And Far Away...thats song takes me to another place...its so soothing its almost hypnotic. great youtube clip...you got me going through all of them now ! What an amazing band....and Im also a big fan of both Plants solo work. Anyone else ?
Is not a failure! Based on the choices I voted for Kashmir (absolutely the BEST). A second choice is Whole Lotta Love and Communication Breakdown third.
Would be #2, following Gallows Pole but neither were options. I voted for my favorite on the list though.
I voted "No Quarter" But, that is only because I'm in a No Quarter mood. There isn't a such thing as a "less then best" Led Zeppelin song. Love live Rock and Roll
