SINCE THAT WAS MY FAVORITE POSITION GROWING UP , AND SOME OF THE YOUNGER FOLK HERE WILL PROBABLY NOT KNOW THE NAMES.. 1.......LAWRENCE TAYLOR 2.......JACK LAMBERT 3........DICK BUTKUS 4........JUNIOR SEAU (SP) WHOS THE BEST IN THE 2000'S ???
At various studios, I used to park in a lot of celeb reserved parking spaces. It was fun parking in Judge Judy's spot and the look on Mel Gibson's glowering, simmering, boiling face on more than one occasion... priceless. But, I would not park in one space. Even if he was 100 years old, I couldn't bring myself to it, as it would disrespect his achievements, and in so doing, disrespect myself. Dick Butkus. But, Taylor... damn, I wouldn't park in his, either. That guy is a mofo.
DIDNT THINK THERE WERE OLD TIMERS LIKE ME HERE.. ROY BUCHANAN MIKE CURTIS TED HENDRICKS LEROY SELMON MATT BLAIR
I should definitely add Jack Ham to my list. I enjoyed watching Chris Spielman play. He was a tackling machine. Derrick Brooks is good, too. And we should probably make a spot for Derrick Thomas.
DERRICK THOMAS...That Chiefs/Seahawks game is still on of the best games I have ever watched! He broke the single game sack record but Dave Kreig kept getting up and eventually threw the winning touchdown pass on a fourth down play as time expired!
Dick Butkus. Because anyone else with that name would have gotten their ass kicked every day. When he was on, Julius Peppers was really impressive. But it's been a while LT was great, but had a lot of coca plant in his nose. Singletary was a madman, no question top three. Ray Lewis, because if he didn't tackle you, he'd kill you/have someone else kill you and get away with it.
The book on Urlacher is simple: run directly at him. He's at his best chasing down plays. Straight-on, he's usually not very effective.
Jim Brown said after the '65 championship game that Ray was the best ever. A pretty fair recommendation. However, LT probably had the most inpact on the position as it's played today.
