A few days ago there was a poster of all the F1 cars from 1950-2004 posted here on Ferrarichat. It was a awesome poster and it got me thinking, what is the best looking F1 car in your opinion?

Here is the link if you missed the earlier thread: http://www.outrunner.net/poster/AllF1_A0.jpg

Its a big one, 18 Megs so Dial Up users beware but its worth the length of the download.

I'm still debating which is my favorite. I like the 156 Sharknose but I also like some of the Lotuses and of course the Gurney Eagle. The cars we have nowadays are ugly I think. About the only way you can tell them apart is by what paint color they have. Otherwise they look pretty much the same.

That is one of my favorite modern cars. But I do have a place in my heart for the pre-wing/areo-addon cars.

mmm...interesting one... my pick's sauber i guess...but past years, i favored the F2001 as the most beautiful car Ferrari's ever desinged, then i like the F2002 as well, but the rear end of the F2003Ga was breathtaking...

1967 Lotus 49. That would have to rank pretty far near the top.

    1967 Gurney Eagle

    1967 Ferrari 312

'67 was a banner year for good looking F1 cars. The larger engine formula of 3 liters coupled with pre-aero designs resulted in pure beauty.

    1957 "Lightweight" Maserati 250F

    1963 Lotus 25.

    1959 Ferrari 246 Dino

Clearly, I find the very clean look of the pre-aero cars to be gorgeous. Once they sprouted all the wings and appendages, aesthetics declined.

I agree on the 1967 cars; that's why I bought "Grand Prix Legends". Of all the cars, though, the Eagle-Weslake goes right to the top of the list. The Lotus 49 is good, but I prefer the 33.

Of the front-engined cars, the last iteration of the Maserati 250F is hard to beat, but I also like the Lotus 16.

Of Ferraris, my favorite is the 1970 312B, followed by the 1967/68, 1989/90 and 1959/60 cars.

The 1975/76 312T gets special mention by the fact that it was so well-designed that it never had a perceptible change in appearance during its entire racing life!

    Too easy - the Eagle-Weslake of 1967.............and I saw it's first win!

..................but as this is Fchat, Ferraris only:

    1959 F1 Dino 246 - best of the front-engined cars, streamlined too.

    1963-64 F1 156/Aero monocoque - so pretty, and Bandini's only win.

    http://f1gt.ifrance.com/images/GP/IMGP128.jpg

And the 1966 F1 312 - I prefer this version to the 1967 'spaghetti exhaust' car.

As Terry says, once they sprouted aerodynamic aids, looks didn't come into it.

The Benneton B188 and the McLaren MP4/6. Something about the number 27. Also the Ferrari 641 of that same year. Beautiful cars and not cluttered with all those flip ups and viking wings of the current cars.

From the side profile I like the 1972 March 721. Although the Ferrari above and to the right of it (1970) looks really nice too.

Im a huge fan of the Red Bull cars. Their color combo has been one of my favorites for a long time. Although I definately cannot deny the beauty of the Ferraris, especially the F2002.
