    - Ride the Lightning - classic
    - Puppets - classic

I grew up on those two. But then... Cliff... hmmm =/

    Favorites of Jason Newstead era:
    - 5.98EP / 9.98EP - lots of remakes. Jason plays on a Wal bass (Ian Waller), sounds incredible. You can hear little quirks, like Kirk swapping guitars (plugging em up) just prior to solos.
    - black album.

Justice is great and pushed them into mainstream when they finally agreed to do "a" video. They wouldn't do one prior to that, but instantly figured out they could make tons of money just from "One". (no pun intended)

But, similar to St. Anger (which blows beyond belief), Justice's bass lines were not written by Jason Newstead. I believe he pretty much played along. This is why there's no groove and it is just a mimic of the guitar - which is different in other albums and creates a dynamic sound. St. Anger's basslines were written and played by Bob Rock, IIRC, or someone similar. So they are just there. Nothing great at all. Robert Trujillo, the new current bassist, played with Suicidal Tendencies and again later with Infectious Grooves - both with Mike Muir. Both are great great bands.

Yes, I'm bass-centric, but what do you expect from a bassist?

Also, to add to the trivia - Kirk's guitar teacher is across the bay: Joe Satriani. Not sure if he still takes lessons or not, but that was up and through Justice, IIRC.

People are going to think theres something wrong with me but I REALLY REALLY loved the S&M Metallica album with the San Francisco Symphony, I even bought the Video. I put it first before all the other albums.

Anything up through Justice...although Kill em All, Ride the Lightning, and Master of Puppets are by far the top three. Even my 7 year old daughter likes to listen to Master in the car :D

Pathetic? How can you say they are pathetic like that? That isn't even the right word for such crap that emits from stereos playing those albums.

Metallica went poser in '89 with And Justice..., and got worse over time. However, their first album, Kill Em All, was very innovative and advanced for its time.
Save your money and only buy the 1st 3 releases.

I used to be into Metallica but then, they kinda got annoying after everyone was constantly listening to them. Now they are alright.

My Favorite song is Disposable Heroes on Master of Puppets.
