Best method to remove 355 plenums? (in situ) There is an awful lot of brittle hoses under there that do not want to come undone..... Is there any trick to pulling these things off? I could spend a long time individually unscrewing a lot of upside down allen bolts, to seperate the lid. But what will that get me? Any advice or tips? It looks like hose-ripping time unless somebody has a more clever idea. Thanks in advance, Jay
If any hoses are "brittle" enough to break they due for replacement anyway. They hose routing is quite easy once you have it apart.
Dude, you will clearly see in the pictures all the breathers that have to be leaved of, there are 4 on each side plus two smaller ones. I got a screwdriver on the very top and levered them down, then just pulled them out from the bottom. The gold coloured cylinders (one each side) just pulls down out of the bottom of the Plenum after you have removed the 10mm nuts. Note that there is a rubber condom type seal that could be left up the hole or around the cylinder. Now for the tricky bit, i assume that you will be removing the water tank and the power steering tank. Let me know if ya need instruction for this if ya haven't all ready It makes life easier with a clear valley. As you will see in the picture with the ratchet. There are 8 colliers/ clips that hold on the plenums, 4 on each side on the throats. each throat clip unit is made up of 4 parts. You have a choice of either just undoing the clips till there very loose or taking them completely of. I recommend taking them of because when you remove the plenum some will stay on the plenum and some on the throttle bodies. Be care full when removing each because once the clip is undone the two metal half moon shells will fall away just leaving the rubber condom seals either on the plenum or throttle bodies. Pull away job done. Tips on putting them back on. I would suggest putting the clip units along with the half moons and the condoms on the throttle bodies first but do not tighten them up at all, just very loose. Then once all are on just push each side of the plenums on. You may want to use a little water for a lube around the rubber. Important note now. Make sure the centre 4 clips are situated as such so you do not foul the throttle linkage. I did this and had to take it all of again Connect all ya breathers again and push in the gold cylinder and jobs a good un. Now go drive that mother Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I picked one helluva an evening to wrench on the Ferrari, maybe I'll put it off until tomorrow night..... Thanks for the pics, I already have an extensive list of new hose clamps hoses etc, so it is more than a one night job anyway. Jay
hey that looks good. I noice you painted the fuel rail and idle motors. what did you use? a generic paint or one of them "fake cadmium plating" paints? JM
Sorry to drag up an old thread but couldn't find the part number online or in the parts cross-reference thread for the rubber seal that is used in the clamp for the plenum to intake manifold. I had the injectors cleaned yesterday and the rubber seals were in need of replacing but the part number is not listed anywhere. Anyone know where to get these please ? TIA John
Contact RC engineering They make a slightly larger O ring for the Ferrari that holds up to ethanol and all race fuels. They make a much better seal then the stock ones. I did 3 this last year and all of them had a vacuum leak around the injector.
Just took a few minutes looking at the Ricambi diagram. There are a lot of places for a vacuum leak under the plenum!
They plug onto the engine on brass nipples. Must be a miss print from ricambi says the older less powerful cars have twice as many. 16 i think.
Uhh...?????? All of this must be incorrect😁 They plug onto the engine....where? Older cars are "less powerful" ????? They have twice as many???.....16????? No, no and not
