Looking for an MP3 Player with (in order of importance): (1) a large hard disk (need one with the capacity for at least 1,000 songs) (2) strong reliability (3) easy user-interface Am seriously considering the 20G Apple iPod. If you have better experiences with other players, please let me now. Alternatively, if you love your iPod, and know a place to buy it at a killer price, please weigh in here.
I bought a Dell Jukebox. I forgot how big the hard drive is, but I have every single CD that I own stored on there (about 200 of them). The only complaint that I have is when you want to play an entire album, the songs play in alphabetical order instead of the order that the album is recorded in. Otherwise, it works very well, and is cheaper than an I-Pod.
Vik, I have a 15 GB 3rd gen. IPod that I bought about 4 months ago. I have have been very pleased with it so far. It is easy to use, both the unit itself and itunes to manage the IPod. I've owned 4 MP3 players since their proliferation, the IPod is by far the best, and well worth the money in my opinion. I also, have the ITrip adaptor (which is currently not working) so that I can play music over an FM radio, which I would also suggest. MD
There must be a setting to change that, you can't listen to Pink Floyd in a order other than normal. Can you que the songs indiviually?
Thanks for the input Mike. I'm leaning towards the iPod myself. Is it worth getting a 4th generation unit, or will 3rd generation suffice for the most part?
As far as I can tell it's not a big change, the 4 buttons that were located in a line across the top are now on the scroll whell, which i see as useless, what would sell me on the 4th is that Ive heard battery life is signifiganlty improved thanks to software changes or something of the sort. for whats its worth I'd get the fourth gen. the cost is similar for a slightly better, newer product
Although the Apple IPod is the standard by which all others are based, I've read that the Creative SoundLabs NOMAD players are actually focusing more effort on Audio Quality (wider dynamic range), more so than the Apple units. Worth a look - anyone listen to one? A good friend has one of these - http://www.neurosaudio.com/ This device offers removable storage units (HDDs), is very user-friendly like the Apple, and has a lot of support. He has this device wired to all AUX inputs in his cars' in-dash audio units, so the same MP3 can go from car-to-car and jack into all of them (including his Ferraris).
The Rio Karma has much better sound quality than the iPod, has at least as good battery life (~ 16 hrs). It also plays a wider variety of sound files. Pretty inexpensive, too - the 20 GB model is < $240. Check Wal-Mart or Best Buy. Also has nice little features like an Ethernet port on the dock, 5-band EQ, true gapless playback, and really nice random playlist features.
Anybody have any experience with the Creative Zen Touch? Have heard good things about it. Would particularly appreciate opinions vis-a-vis the iPod. Thx. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I was also considering that mp3 player but when i saw it at best buy. I was quite dissappointed, is larger and heavier than the regular Ipod, besides that people say that this is the best out there.
Besides the fact that you didn't like it Joe. The true reason I am asking is that I had ordered a 20GB iPod from one of the online sites a couple of days ago. The box came today, but included the Creative Zen Touch noted above, instead of what I had ordered - a logistical snafu on their part. I looked up the player on a couple of different review sites, and find the reviews to be surprisingly positive. That being said, it's a tad bigger / heavier than the iPod. I'm wondering whether I should get this replaced, or just keep it and get a refund for the difference in price. Let me know your thoughts.
