As I start my search for my 84/85 308 GTS I'm wondering.....besides Ferrarichat, Ebay, Autotrader, and Cars.com what are the best internet sites to search for used Ferraris?

When I was looking for my 308 back in 2002, I found it on Ebay. I didn't bid on it but contacted the seller and made a deal. I sold it after 5 years with the help of a friend of mine for the same price I purchased it for, with an additional 40,000 miles.

I think cars.com is the best and their search criteria can really narrow down the car you are looking for. I used to check Car and Driver classifieds too but it's not as good as cars.com. Did you check Hemmings classifieds?

for me the best way was to go to my local Cars&Coffee and ask around where did people buy there cars. After a short while 2 dealers within a 100 miles kept coming up as good people to deal with on 3x8's and 355's (what I was looking for at the time). Had I not decided to go with a 360, I would have likely bought from one of those 2. Also at the C&C there will be people there that may know of a private sale.

eBay, AutoTrader, and Cars.com are the big 3. For exotics, also try DuPont Registry.

Of course, for Ferraris, there's FerrariChat's for sale forum. :)

Finally, don't be intimidated by eBay. Most cars advertised on eBay never actually sell directly on eBay, especially exotics, where potential purchasers will want a lot of information before buying (service history, PPI, etc.). Think of eBay as another advertising forum (and a good one at that, especially for exotics) and use it as a conduit to your seller.

Of course, if the car is actually being auctioned on eBay (not just listed as price/best offer), and the auction has bids above a reserve, then by all means participate in the auction if you want the car, else you may miss out. But, still, do your due diligence before you bid.

Anywhere and everywhere. I found mine advertised on eBay, but purchased it "locally". Turns out that quite a few people were jockeying for it.

F-Chat is a good place, Craigslist, Cars.com, AutoTrader, etc. If nothing just to get leads...but I wouldn't limit myself.

If you really want a laugh, try buying a car through overstock.com. About a year ago I was buying a new jeep and it was the biggest waste of time-a bunch of dealers calling you telling you the car you inquired about just sold. Familiar feeling. At least you expect that when you see cars locally advertised in the paper-at least back when we read papers. But they do have killer deals on running shoes if you're not committed to the Fcar!
