"Smoke on the Water." Deep Purple. The very first song anyone attempts to play the first time they pick up a guitar.

    "Satisfaction" Rolling Stones

    "Paranoid" Black Sabbath.

    There are so many.

I had the same problem. I listed Crossfire, but Texas Flood has to be up there. Then again, there's always Voodo Child. Ah, so many great riffs. Keep em coming all.

Definitely deserves to be in the top 10. Regarding Smoke on the Water, it might be the most well-known, but definitely not the best IMO.

Being a huge Led Zeppelin fan, there are many, many songs of theirs to pick from. But one in my mind stands out--"The Song Remains the Same".

    Other than that--Eagles, "Hotel California".

There's no question that this topic is ruled and governed by the men who established rock in it's heydey, but to select something from today's time, I must pass over all the mediocrity we hear today that's classified as "rock" and offer:

    "Screwdriver"
    The White Stripes
