A friend of mine is looking to sell a 997 S and is wondering where to list it.

I was thinking autotrader, cars.com or perhaps dupont registry.

Where do buyers typically look for these cars? Would an ad in Excellence be worth it?

Don't forget Ebay. I just sold one of my project cars on Ebay in 1 day for more than I expected. I sold my 997 a couple of years back on Cars.Com, most legitimate buyers use that site. Stay away from Craigslist because of all of the low ballers, scammers, idiots that waste your time.

    Best.

Yeah I'm thinking cars.com over autotrader, and staying off craigslist is probably going to save a lot of time.

Might also list on rennlist or similar forums (fchat?)

    Thanks guys.

Local PCA publication and national Panorama. I recently used Hemmings and was quite surprised with world wide response, my 911 was sold to a gentleman in the nordics.

    Absolutely right.

But it's better to have been a member for a while than to show up selling a car.

Whatever he does there, make sure he buys a membership!

Rennlist is not a great place to sell a late model 911 IMHO. There is a longstanding tradition there of talking down the values of 996/997s, although if your friend is looking to unload the car quickly at a bargain price then by all means...

    Rennlist is a lot harder on 996s than 997s. I have a 993, so it's very welcoming!

Excellence is a good way to get good money for a car, but it may take a while. And that may not be true for water cooled 911s.
