Sounds like that would have to be Southern BC, as they get the least amount of snow in this glorious country.

It would have to be BC's lower mainland if you have a lot of money.......you know what BC stands for....BRING CASH. (so much taxation, compared to Alberta)

i have always heard the east coast is the most feasible -

i have a family friend that bought a very beautiful home for $250k - if i had to equate that to here, or out west in a major city i would figure 500- 950k .

a very relaxed lifestyle, good people, nice roads - and lower cost living from what i hear.

go check out the east coast , been to Nova scotia once, and we enjoyed it.

I myself was sort of looking at Langley BC, I will keep my primary residence in AB since I have several properties there. Money not really an issue at this stage of my life. Warmer weather and more than 3 months a year in AB

Isn't the a$$ e d of my TR wider than the downtown lanes? Those streets are pretty narrow!

    Good day,

Indeed, BC does have moderate weather, but they can get some nasty weather too. To really get into some nice weather, I think you will need to go more South. A few friends have purchased some nice properties in California (Palm Springs, Palm Desert, etc) and just love it. Excellent warm weather (for the most part), fresh fruit (right off the backyard trees), daily golf, etc. Excellent value price-wise.

    Cheers,

    Sam

Best weather year-round is the Victoria area; if you can handle the hippie undertones to the entire Vancouver Island experience.

Best driving roads would be the interior. Lots of Albertans seem to retire to the Salmon Arm and Kelowna areas.

Lots of great estates out in the Langley area (my folks retired there as well). It is the bible belt though, despite Nickelback also out there with his Murcie

I'm having a tough time thinking of BC as a retirement town with the +40km/h rules = confiscating cars/licenses. :(

I sent you a PM in regards to this.

Put it this way, I drove my GT4 last weekend and plan on taking it out again this coming Friday for another nice long drive as the forecast calls for clear skies and cool temps. The roads are clean and bare and we still have green grass on our lawns. With the sh!ty weather that the rest of the country is experiencing right now, I don't think there's anywhere else you could drive a Ferrari at this time of year!

Come to Victoria, I left Alberta 3 years ago and haven't looked back. Weather is outstanding. Besides, when you get here I can co-pilot your TR and show you all the coolest spots. Free of charge, even. :D

I don't think you will find a lower taxed + higher personal freedom province then Alberta. For what you will pay for a single residence in BC you can buy 3 winter homes in a southern US state.

    Good day,

I don't think you can blanketly make that statement anymore. Indeed Alberta was an excellent place for very reasonably priced properties and had very good business incentives... However times have changed big time. Properties are getting very expensive and the cost of living here has increased substantially. As an example commercial real estate properties taxes have increased dramatically from last year... Mine (for a small building) have gone up 63% from 2010... yes, a one year increase of 63%... No one likes to pay a lot of tax, but I would find this increase more digestible if the weather was a lot nicer or even longer than the handful of Summer months we get.

Is it expensive in BC? Perhaps, but so is Alberta too... It is all relative to what is important to you and so what may be expensive to one may not be to another. Wherever you choose to go, do your homework.

    Cheers,

    Sam

Good post. Suggest you go to Victoria where the roads are full of government types and seniors on Prozac doing 10km less than the 60km speed limit.

I am there on the 25th & 26th and every second week on business until mid April, can organize the wife to come up on one of the trips and we will stay for the rest of the week. Probably in March sometime.
    Thanks
