I'm new to Porsche and thinking of subscribing to one Porsche centric magazine. What do you recommend? Since I own a Cayman, I want one the has some love for the "lesser" models and isn't solely focused on the 911. I have nothing against 911 coverage, I just don't want one that is exclusively 911 focused.

Excellence would probably be a good choice. It covers old and new models. You can go to their website to check it out.

    It's a Catch-22.

The best Porsche magazine, by far, is the Owner's Club Panorama.

However, you need to be a Porsche owner to join and subscribe.

But it is definitely the best one.

I re-read your original post. Use your Cayman's VIN to subscribe.

I've subscribed to all of them (most are British !) and Excellence is by far the best

Panorama ? Only if you are interested in details of the BBQ in Iowa last month, or another rehash of the 1971 Lemans race. Or wiring details for a '68 912. Or.......

I agree, Panorama is an excellent magazine.

I don't read any of the others except maybe thumbing through one at a bookstore.

Excellence. Even unbiased enough to admit a ZR1 could outrun a GT2 on track.

I personally do not care for the majority of the content in panorama. Some articles are very good, but there is too much stuff from all over the place that makes page flipping very common.

Excellence is probably what you want to go with.

Yes, I read that you want a magazine that focusses on the entire model line. But I still recommend "Total 911". Because Nothing Else Matters!!!

    Good call :D

...still kinda like the varied vintage coverage a publication like Excellence provides!

    what about 9 Magazine?

I know little about it but it seems to be pretty eclectic (ie not 911 specific)

It is my understanding the long term editor of Panorama retired, and the magazine will be revamped. The best thing i like about the current Panorama is the want ads.

Excellence. Some of the region PCA car club publications are very good too.

It sounds like Excellence is the way to go. Thanks for the input.

I did sign up for PCA, so will I get Panorama automatically or is that a separate subscription?

Panorama is included with your PCA membership. Pete Stoudt is taking the helm (moving over from Excellence), and it will be interesting to see what changes, if any, will be made to very well-done publication.

    Excellence.

They cover a wide range of the Porsche scene from new car reviews, to one-offs, to heavily customized cars, to restoration pieces, to all kinds of helpful tech advise, to monitoring the marque's market.

Every issue is like a Porsche aftermarket directory.

The staff own Porsches, some of them race them.

Great writers (Stout, Harris, Kuah, Anderson, the late Pasha, etc). When PASM was first introduced, it was Excellence that noticed that the rear would become momentarily unsettled in a turn, prompting the factory to redesign the system.

The photography is always improving, though it's nowhere near the quality you see in evo.

    Factory folk read the magazine.

(I have every issue. I can't get myself to sell them or give them away.)

    I'd second this vote.

Joined PCA for about 5 years back in Illinois. Panorama was OK, but nothing like Excellence. The "Chicago Scene" local publication? Was mostly a quick scan & drop in recycling bin.
