OK, the mondi was sitting for a few months ..traveling then heat wave and was not started or turned over in a few months...I plan on pulling each plug and putting in some motor oil in each cylinder in an attempt to try and prevent a dry startup and prevent some scrathing.. is that the best practice..will the oil foul the plugs for good ( I will put in new plugs and change the oil at the same time --what the hell)...how much oil, what weight...any other ideas...is there a better way to start a car that has sat a while? ( some people say stop being such a f-car pu@@y and just cranke her a few times and let her warm up slowly and enjoy....I am pretty careful w/ the car, thought and thought I would ask around...climate is cooling off here in n'oreast so it is driving time again...

A few months is really no big deal. Just twist the key and let it run at idle for a bit and then drive it slowly the first mile or so. If it was more than 7 or 8 months I still dont know if I would go to all that trouble. The fuel system will probably cause you trouble before lubrication does anyway.

My friend just pulled apart a V8 engine the other day, that had been sitting for 3+ years. It had no surface rust on any internals. It looked like it was just removed from the car, thats how clean internally it was. As mentioned, I would also, just start the car and let it warm up to opertating temp. A few months of sitting there is fine. Make sure you have plenty of oil/water in the car, then see if she will start. Hopefully the fuel isnt too stale from sitting and she will fire. :)

I have a porsche not ferrari, but my car sits for months every winter with nothing more than a full tank of gas w/stabil, and the porsche battery tender plugged into the cigarette socket. If it sit for 6-7 months insteady of 3-4 months my starting procedure would be the same. 1. check tire pressure 2. unplug battery tender 3. turn key 4. enjoy (drive her easy until the oil not just water is fully warmed up, as always).

I'll do the same with a Ferrari...Good luck and enjoy that car! Sould be beautiful weather today (at least here in NJ)
