Mate of mine has the following: PL55OFF from dvla recentlyfor £295 a bargain & N11TER (NUTTER) Talk about luck of the Irish, tonight this electrician calls round his house and just happens to mention he's selling his car & would he be interested, he spent about 10 mins transfixed by the reg & bought that for £200. G47ES B (Bill Gates)
I've always held the view that if you have to explain what it is then it clearly isn't worth anything. If I were called Bill Gates I wouldn't put that on my car coz I'd get sick of having to translate it for people. Tenuous number plates are just not cool. Sorry. All IMO of course.
I was amused to see a BRG Bentley Arnage with canary yellow upholstry( yes, really) a couple of years back, bearing the plate "GAY 50D". Seemed apt...
I have 6 different private plates. Bought my user name one when i was 21 for £1k - had valuations to broker of £15k+ - but i think it's crap - theyre only worth what someones willing to pay.

Best I saw was a late 50's Bentley Continental Convertible in London with the plate 51MON...took my fancy for some reason. Also an Aston V8 with the plate 4 COV
i've got a couple TOM7E D8EAN A1 8OYS PO53ERR - for sale TT04 FUN - for sale Enzo in Romans has 3NZO on it and another they have there has the plate M16 i've seen NUT5 on a cerbera..... and once on holiday a chap pulled up in a gleaming 360 - plate was NOT 1, then 2 mins behind him his misses pulled up in an identical car, - guess what the plate was...... BUT 2 Brill
A little random but one of the best I have seen for a long long time. There is a Lotus 340R for sale near Leeds (United Leeds, United LEEDS!!!!) with the registration 34 TR. Personally I think that is rather clever. No need for stupid spacings or plastic screw covers to make up words. Just well thought out! Me personally..... 667 ED. My mum bought me it for my 18th and it has been on pretty much every car I have owned from an Escort to the 355! Ed
Of course some of you may remember that both mine cost £250 and £300. That was for B9UTE (BRUTE) and G9OWL (GROWL). I always find it strange that people sell number plates with numbers and letters that dont even mean/say anything for thousands and thousands. Another of my mates has either V8 GUY or V8 LAD i cant remember of hand and it cost him £400. Go figure.
I recall seeing a post over on PistonHeads where a guy saw a Porker filling up with petrol and had the reg T1 VOM. They didn't think much of it until 5 mins later when it can storming up behind them and they clocked it in their rear view mirror. James..
Didnt Steve Davis / Jimmy White have A147POT? Perhaps Ronnie O'Sullivan has it now.... also seen on a one of our Credit Managers cars IOU 00
I've heard of a couple of cars in London with the plates 2B and NOT 2B Saw T1 AMO which was cute. My Dad (initials P A Bill) has the plate PAB1L. Cost? Nil; In 1973 he rang the DVLC and asked if he could have it on a new car he was getting, and they just let him! Those were the days...
I think the number plate thing is getting a bit silly (although I do have a couple myself ) can't understand people paying a fortune for a plate that only say's something when it illegally spaced (just asking for a pull) or you've been hit on the back of the head with a 2x4 and are suffering from blurred vision and concussion!
Best one I saw(from a personal perspective)was in My next door neighbour drive(not Theirs) it was DAV 1E,I thought it might look good on My car!!!
