I want to get the coolest (temperature) racing suit available.
Any recommendations? OMP? Ferrari's Schumacher suit?

What's the best local source for racing suits?
    Bobby Archer in FW?

Has anyone done the custom fitting via mail?
Did it fit well? (I am an odd-sized person, so
that may be my best bet.)

For putting logos on a suit, do you need to use Nomex thread
to avoid compromising the suit? Can you have embroidery on
    a racing suit?

    Thanks,

    Brian

There are several good manufacturers. Just for the controversy after Dale Earnheart's death, I continue to use Simpson safety products for all my race team members!

Patches are Ok with standard thread and I have embriodered mine as well. I guess all that will burn first!

Pro Am in Houston handles Simpson. The coolest (temperature) is the single ply, which I have used for years, but I did note that the Pirelli event in New Orleans required a TWO PLY minimum ( as opposed to a two drink minimum). Damn. I've been DQ'd again.

Simpson has a large facility in New Bransfels, TX., of all places.
I bet they would tailor to your size, as required.

Speedy, I want to know more about those carts! Some of the Dallas crowd have been talking about getting our own carts and most are either too extreme (shifters) or not extreme enough (Acadamy Sports basic carts).

Jim, I agree, those would be really cool, but from the looks I bet they're $4k+. I still want to build my driveway and sidewalks so it's a little kart track.

Brian, I get all my stuff through http://www.racerwholesale.com/. They carry some really good brands, but are more known for their good prices. All my stuff is GForce, which isn't the most expensive brand, but very good quality and the best price.

Well, jimpo, those are Child Advocates carts. PM for more info.
For the past six years I have supported this charity that works for the Harris County Family courts to monitor and assist child abuse victims.
I could tell real stories that would make you cry and hug the next lil' kid you see, but let's focus on the RACIN'

In exchange for a donation fee, a complete body in white arrives at your doorstep, along with a rulebook of dos and donts, (and of course, I also read the white part of EVERY page!).

A stock Briggs and Stratton 3.5 HP with centrifical clutch is used, BUT design RPM is taken from 3500 ( your lawn edger) up to but not to exceed 6750, as measured by tech officials B4 and after the race.
At this point the B&S is screaming for mercy, and flame comes out the straight pipe exhaust at full throttle about 4", readily visible at night.

After a few parties and crew uniform judging contests, (we lose because we're homely), the racers all meet downtown on a closed racecourse specially constructed on the public streets in front of City Hall.
In pursuit of The Mayor's Cup trophy we duke it out with the corporate teams from the local business community, for fun and glory.

My personal team in six years has donated $67,000.00US to Child Advocates. The initial attraction to this worthy cause was the race and meeting Mario Andretti for a team photo. And you get to keep (what's left of) the cart after the weekend. I now trip over four of 'em in my garage!!

Leading a field of 16-18 cars into Turn 1 at full throttle, your only thought is:"Don't F--- up!!" It's way cool.

We were made a support race to the Champ Car race in Houston all 4 years. We hung out with all the real teams and drivers. I won in '98.

All Fchat members are invited to participate. Like the real world, BRING SOME SPONSOR MONEY!!! LOL

Last year K Rentiers and wife were game but had a conflict at the last minute. Davy Jones was there, and signed my helment next to Mario Andretti, Bobby Rahal and Kenny Brack.

Child Advocates is a good thing, well worth it.

To avoid thread hijack, it should be noted that that is a single ply Simpson suit. We avoid the Dale Earnheart problem by not using belts AT ALL.

An impromptu test under racing conditions reflects that after tire to tire contact with a competitior, the cart will roll over four times before ejecting the driver, onto his head.

Don't ask me how I know!

PS It wouldn't have been so back on the backside of the course, instead he did right in fornt of all the pits!!!! SCCA license was revoked.

Speedy, if you have 4 in your garage, maybe you need to part with one? :)

Sounds like a worthy, and even better, a hell of a lot of fun.

Well, It seems I'm falling short of my commitment to the charity this year. ($3,000.00) Times are hard in the charity fund raising world, due to the economy.

I have two that are chain drive, two with belt drive a la Harley Davidson.
All are red with F1 logo treatment, although with MY team sponsors.

Both chain cars bear minimal crash damage. Belt cars look good.
A little TLC would make you a hero to a youngster.

CAUTION: High RPMs enble top speed 40MPH+! Supervision is recommended, obviously serious injury could result at these speeds.
ALWAYS WEAR A HELMENT & NECK BRACE!

I think retail on these is $1200 -1500. Come see 'em and make an offer!
We run them on the church parking lot.

Also, your check would be payable to Child Advocates.
