+1 : that's why my 456 has two. One that came with the car imbedded in the front grill and nicely imbedded lights in the dash dials, and my window mounted Escort. one picks up the slack, Escort that is.

I have K-40 + V1 in the Lambo. The K-40 is crap, STAY AWAY! Valentine 1 is hand down the best radar detector in my opinion, you can also send them back to manufacturer for upgrades for a nominal charge.

    Escort too.

WHY do you like the V1? becuase it illuminates everything?

have you tried the others besides K-40 of which I agree is crap.

Yes I've tried a lot of different ones. I used to have several Passport 8500s. The V1 is best on range and the directional arrows rule.

Just turn off the freq that you don't need or want! V1 is the best.

An earlier poster had it best: Just look at brake lights. I know that you cannot do this on a lonesome road (but there's less chance of a cop wasting his time there too). When there's traffic and people come up to a cop, their natural instinct is to tap the brakes, often you can see the brake lights for miles back. It's the cheapest radar dectector ever invented and completely undectable in no-no areas like Virginia. It covers X, K, Ka, and Lidar.

In really, I simply don't usually speed, so I've never seen the need to get a detector. (I'm also a traffic preosecutor part-time and cops seem to give me a pass anyways).

That's where the V1 comes in handy. You'll get to your false alarm spot and it'll beep X band or even K or whatever as usual. But if there is a second source - the cop - it'll alert for that as well and show "2" on the screen, letting you know that the sneaky cops are there. No other detector does this, right?
