    the old homestead lol..

most of the local restaurants are a bit old. i would honeslty say eat at the track if that is an option. the few times i have been there the food that was provided (buffet for breakfast ETC) was better than the local options. Jamieson is your man though he would know better than me.

Why don't you just eat in Middletown. It's a city, not very far away , and has lots of choices.

If it doesnt have to be fancy then Nardi's in hurleyville (formerly Frankie and Johnny's) is amazing. Try the steaks and muscels marinara!

No, no no!!....best food and one of the best kept secrets just 2-3 miles outside Monticello is White Lake NY....this is a sleepy 2 block town right on White Lake that was given up for dead years ago, now resurrected and sporting some of the best grub and views around....you can get anything from amazing coal oven pizza to places that are a bit more high end (although still dirt cheap!) and all with a killer view of one of the prettiest lakes in the Catskills...I've been coming up there for years and its amazing the turnaround.

+1 for the Old Homestead...Always great food, and the restaurant where the celebs eat when they are in town...

I also hear good things about Vino (on Broadway) as well...

Haven't been there in a while, but Willy's on Route 42 (about 2 miles from the MMC), used to be pretty good...

Took Jamison's advice and hit the Old Homestead on Thursday. Make sure you go there hungry. Food was excellent. Bread was good.(special Cinnamon loaf). Much better then then the food at the track.
