OK... lately I have been trying ordering various "Best in the World" foods from famous places over the internet. I just ordered some rice balls from Landi's in NYC...

I LOVE Ribs. I remember the old MASH episode where they order ribs from Chicago and fight to get them delivered to Korea.

So.... who has the best ribs in the world? I want some! Tell me what you think!

Corky's dry ribs. Memphis. They'll FedEx them to you.

I can't tell you about the 'other' best ribs, is a family secret. :)

    Naturally,
Everone has their own preferred style and regional tastes will determine the local favorite. Here my quick thoughts.

Beef: If Stubbs in Austin does ribs, then they will probably ship them to you. I have eaten almost no beef for many years, so I can't really say how good they are these days.

Pork: The best Pork BBQ and ribs I have ever had were from Hursey's (sp?) in Burlington, NC. I don't know if they'll ship, or if they're even still in business, but they served the apotheosis of piedmont NC/VA (yes, there is real 'que in VA) style barbeque.
If you like the stuff from the coastal plane, try to get a sandwich from Parkers in Wilmington, NC.

There is a little shop here called 'Chicken Alley'. Has been here since I was born. At least 30 years old Dad reckons. Im 26. The shop is next to my Dads mates place. My Dad had been sitting out the front of that house with his friend everyday after work for the last 40 years for coffee and chat. They have been using the same way to cook their ribs my Dad said since they opened. They are the best in town. Ribs in some special BBQ/tangy sauce. Yum! I should go get some. Getting up there in price though. AU$12 for 6 ribs that arent to meaty either. But they do taste fantastic. :D

Here is a great (AND TOO EASY TO BELIEVE!) rib recipe:

1 large reynolds cooking bag (turkey size woorks well)
2-3 slabs of baby backs, rinsed w/ h2O and patted kinda dry
    1/2 cup of flour
1 reg size BBQ sauce of your choice (sweet baby rays's for me)

Put flour and all of sauce in bag and mix together
Put ribs in bag and smear sauce over them top and bottom
lay ribs flat in sealed bag on cookie sheet
Poke a few holes in top of bag for steam to escape
Cook for 1:45 at 350 deg.

Remove from bag, spread more sauce on tops of slabs and put in oven to bake sauce on.

All the grease and debris remains in the bag if you are careful, so just fold it up and pitch it in the trash, No Mess

Trust me, I've tried many, and this has been all our guest's favorite, hands down.....

You know what I just realised? When I buy my Ferrari or Lambo I am going to have to do a tour of North America visiting all the best bbq resturants and F-chat members near them.

while Corky's and Rendezvous are both good in Memphis, I always liked Zebs in Indianapolis with their 'world famous' Mambo Sauce. Unfortunately, Zebs burnt down several years ago and the Mambo Sauce is no more.

I'll second Salt Lick in Austin. BTW...should yankee's be excluded from this thread? The Northeast for BBQ...seriously?

YES, it's in a town actually called "Driftwood". And there used to be a Sheriff hangin' out outside directing traffic. It's a dry county (i.e. they don't sell booze) but you can bring your own.
