Tell us a little more about your tastes. Sometimes for our anniversary the wife and I head to The Ritz Restaurant. It is OLD SKOOL, red vinyl booths, creepy lounge singer, wait staff in tuxedos. Great food though.

If you are thinking more of the young crowd/roll to valet and show off your ride and your gal, how about Javier's. Great atmosphere and pretty inexpensive.

For eclectic . . . I can't really help you, sorry. Haven't found anything in that area.

We are both vegetarian for the most part. She likes to have some seafood from time to time. Some of the real frou frou small menu restaurants often don't have very good vegetarian selections. I guess looking for a place with good food and ambience. Something trendy would be cool too but obviously nothing nothing too loud aka cheesecake. One of our favorite restaurants was Inn of the 7th ray out in Topanga until the ownership completely destroyed any concept of "service."

Andreas is very nice and more reasonable in my opinion than Studio. Studio is not the same since James Boyce left.

For something off the beaten path that is pretty memorable (on a nice evening anyway) try the beachcomber in crystal cove - dress warm and book a time about 45 mins before sunset.

Yes Armen, this is a nice place, I was invited to a closed door fund raiser and sat one chair away from Ex-Governor Dukmejian and I think your dad was there as well. Man that was years back...

I vote for The Ritz in Fashion Island, http://www.ritzrestaurant.com/. Elegant, quiet, dark, warm, excellent service, and excellent food. Untouchable. Yes, 21 is good but . . . And, if you have any doubts, this joint has an incredibly long daily afternoon happy hour! Strong drinks. What more could one ask for? Besides, the people-watching of the uncles w/ their nieces is fun.

I am a big Mastro's Ocean Club Fan. Book ahead, reserve a table by the window for sunsets (summer time), you will not be disappointed.

    Montage is great as well,

The Ritz is nice, haven't been to the others.

If OC is in range, a unique place is: http://www.hobbitrestaurant.com
expect to spend at least four hours, and you will have a nice selection of wines to choose from in their cellar.

    +1 on Mastros Ocean Club.

Just had a business dinner there and food was outstanding.

Could not go wrong with a table by the windows and then move to the bar area and listen to the piano player.

Thumbs up for 21 Oceanfront. I booked our company's holiday party at 21 Oceanfront in one of the private rooms. Armen, if I bring my '77 308GTB (red) to our holiday party will you bring one of your F-Cars? I won't even be picky which Ferrari you bring!

Places I've tried, both in Laguna beach:

Splashes - overlooks the beach, so plan for sunset.
French 75 - very good French food/service, romantic

    Have fun.

Best in my opinion, lot's of safe Ferrari Parking,

French cuisine with provençal flair. Has been rated the number one restaurant in OC for over ten years by the Zagat Guide.
