Ron Zacapa, Centenario 23 yr old from Guatemala.

I discovered it in a bar in Antigua where a German dude has been collecting different rums for many years - this was his favorite and now mine.

Much too good to mix with anything, a wonderful Molasses essence to it. Plus its only about 40$ a bottle :)

I asked my local liquor store, and they were able to order it for me, and now they've taken to stocking it!

Yep, a true sipping rum. There were several vintages at the duty free in Belize City. I ended up with some Havana Club (tasty) instead. Next trip I'm coming home with a flight of Ron Zacapa.

Pampero is aewsome, it is one rum you want to sip and rates 92 points in Wine and Spirits. I order it through Sam's of Chicago.

Purser's Royal Navy is also a really good rum. For mixing purpose's i use Captian Morgans PVT Stock.

Thanks for the recommendation. I bought a bottle for a trip to Watkins Glen (NY). It seems that the bottle had a hole in it because the rum quickly disappeared. ;)

My wife did some work in Puerto Rico a few years back and was introduced to Ron del Barrilito, which according to the locals is the best PR has to offer. Personally I love it, but it is only sold in PR, and a few places in Miami. In addition I really like the Old New Orleans Rum, formerly called New Orleans Rum. It is made with pure Louisiana cane sugar in New Orleans.

My new favorite is Pyrat XO. I am not impressed with Flor De Cana anymore after drinking this. For $30 a bottle, it's great stuff--I drink it straight, nice carmely-orange finish.

+1, picked up a bottle recently, and it seems to have disappeared faster than any other rum I've had.
