I'M ON FERRARICHAT ASKING ABOUT LAMBORGHINIS OMG.

Looking at an '04 Gallardo for a buyer. 19.1k miles, seems to be a fairly well-sorted car on the face of things. I need to have a PPI done. The owner says he lives in Riverside, ZIP 92507. I asked if he knew of any shops close to him, and he said the nearest dealer is about 42 miles away, Lamborghini Newport Beach.

I have no issues going to an independent shop for the PPI, as long as they're as knowledgeable and thorough as the dealer would be. Initially I thought it would be awesome to take it to Franco's European, because Jay Leno speaks so highly of them, and online reviews seem incredibly favorable for them; however, it's about a 75 mile drive from the insured's house one way, so I don't think that's going to be feasible.

Please, SoCal Fchat members, bless me with your vast knowledge.

Raging Bull in Costa Mesa is the independent that is closest.
I remember hearing that a 360 buyer had a PPI done at Mercedes Specialty
In Riverside, and was happy, but I would guess no special diagnostics....

Lastly there is a restoration shop here in Riverside, I think "Timo" runs it,
he may be able to check it out, if seller insists on local only. Check
    posts in So. cal. section.

    Thanks for the info, Bert.

The seller isn't specifically insisting on local, it's more my personal preference to keep driving/mileage to a minimum while negotiations are taking place.

I have heard of Raging Bull, I will check them out.

Even though we haven't met yet, Bert, I appreciate your vote of confidence, but I try not to get too involved with PPI's involving "later" model vehicles (built after mid-to-late '70's), especially any requiring computerized diagnostic equipment (which I don't have nor want :) ).
I've done plenty of mechanical and visual inspections on "late" model cars for friends and existing (restoration) clients, but most probably think I tend to find too many things wrong with the prospect vehicle(s) and inadvertently deflate their initial enthusiasm and kill the excitement. ;)

For any and all Lamborghini related inspections or services, I myself would recommend Gary Bobileff (in San Diego). Probably worth the added back-and-forth transportation costs.

P.S. Bert, the shop visit invite is still valid, if interested.

Just to transport the car from the seller's residence to Lamborghini Newport Beach is nearly $600 one way. I guess I'm not really trying to spend $1,500+ in transportation costs (if taken to San Diego) just to get a PPI done, then having to get the car back to NE on top of that. If the seller will drive it to the dealer and leave it, I will be happy.

Called Lambo Newport Beach, they can do the PPI and will hold the car afterwards for a couple of days until we can get there to pick it up. The PPI is also considerably cheaper from them than I thought, it barely costs more than indie shops I've used. Probably going to end up going that route.
