What is the best way to find a high quality F40? Through a dealer (my dealer offered to find one for me if I wanted)? Hire a broker? Internet (seems like the worst method)? Watch the auction listings and take a consultant with me? Hire a Ferrari consultant/broker/specialist to find one? Thanks for the opinions.
Youve just answered yourself. Plus....look in Ferrari Market Letter. I looked for a while myself under the same guise. Talked with alot of dealers, but just could not find the right car for me.
the internet's a good source to find dealers that may have the car your looking for,but buying without due diligence being done will sometimes result in the purchase of a lemon.
Without a doubt, I would go through each car with a fine toothed comb, but are the Ferrari specialists/brokers/collection consultants more cost efficient and as reliable as a local dealership. Will he/she have broader contacts? Doesn't the dealership take a larger fee? Are the "finders" paid hourly or do they take a percentage of the car price?
That would be my first suggestion - then again, maybe I'm biased. But like with any Ferrari purchase, no matter how you find the car, make sure you have it thoroughly inspected by an independent party before you drop big dollars. Good luck, keep us posted and post pictures when you finally snag that dream.
That looks like a real good one! I have been casually looking for a while, and that is definately one of the nicer looking ones I have seen lately. May be worth a look and a PPI ..........................
I have spoken with Dave a few times, and he is excellent. I was going to suggest you contact him, even before I saw that he had one listed. Best of luck with the hunt.
When I found my car (1990 F40) I did all of the above except I avoided the auctions (I felt that was high risk for an inexperienced person). The car I ended up with I found myself. but then consulted my broker for his opinion. PPI etc... It took me about a year to find the right car for me. (Completely original with 4K miles), So be patient. I turned down some cars because of too few miles. I drive my car so buying a car wiith under 1K mile didn't make sense to me.
i have a euro spec 1991 with 700km's!about 400 miles should be here in about a month.$500,000 canadian dollars
I just got off the phone with ferrari north america, the only way it would be able to go to the states is if its modified to fit north american e.p.a standards which would not be worth it for you, but if everything is going to be done this is a car you might want to look at.
umm as far as i know, they still have to be slighlty modified, but the person to ask is Steve Maman, sorry wish i knew more.
