So let me get this straight... A 15 year old F40 can come into the U.S. w/o DOT/EPA? Just pay the duty and in it comes?
NO they cannot come in without spending big bucks on the modifications to comply with U.S. standards big bucks=$100,000
Canada (aka: the 51st state) is 15 years. The USA is still limits it to 25 years for such behavior. Be ready for that European F40 purchase in 2015 and you should be good to go. Want it sooner and you have to play the game and spend the money. >8^) ER
ok...thanks For some reason I remember reading about a DOT/EPA exemption that could be filed (every 1 or 3 years?). If the owner wanted to keep the car in the U.S., the exemption is extended. Do this X amt of times and the US limit catches up to the car in question and bam...youve got a legit car....NOW I could be TOTALLY wrong on this.....this is just my poor memory of an article i read somewhere at least a year ago Anyone else hear of such stuff? work for an F40?
From simply reading the title of this thread, I think the best technique to find an F40 can only begin right here: . . Image Unavailable, Please Login
You are correct.. also, if you happen to own a Canadian car, and say were transporting it on your on trailer to say LA, for resotoration (lets say) they cant make yo uu have DOT , but it will cross the border -a
