Are there any preferred or new tires for the F12?

I don't track the F12 (race cars for that!) so curious what is available to replace the stock tires. Getting on to 9000 miles.

In my opinion the Michelin Super Sports are best UHP Tires right now. Even work for a couple of track laps.

+1 on MSS's. I've used them on my Lamborghini Gallardo and loved them. I have Pirelli Pzero's now on my F12 and I can't wait to get rid of them. The good news is they will wear out quickly.

what makes you gents feel the MSS's are superior? I am not challenging you, i am very interested in your opinions as i can't figure out which of the 2 are "better"

I have the Pirelli Pzero's on my 458 and have no grip after the first layer wore off.

On the F12 I have the MSS and I honestly thought that I was going to hate them, however they are simply sensational. Even in the wet which was a surprise to me too.

My Lambo also came with Pirelli's. I was disappointed in the cornering even though the car was all wheel drive. I expressed my displeasure on a Lambo forum where multiple members diagnosed the problem as Pzero's. Changed to MSS. They stuck like glue. Maybe a little more tire noise but not enough to matter to me. The tire wear on MSS's is also much better. I've heard they also handle better in the rain but I can't bring myself to take my painstakingly detailed car out in bad weather. OCD problem.

I switched from the Pzeros to the MSS on my Maserati GTS and have mixed opinions. The MSS stick better but the tramlining is real bad, so much so that I dont think I will get another set. I'll go back to the Pzeros or something else.

I took the F12 with PZeros today for a spirited mountain back road drive in 40C/105F ambient, at the end of the drive the tires were at 68C/154F per the computer.

They hold up surprising well, just a tad greasy at the end but nothing the car and myself can't handle.

Michelin Super Sports will hold up better for sure on the hot side, but I am actually intrigued by the newly certified Bridgestone S007 OEM tires, their outer block are pretty much slicks, more so than the Trofeo R or Cup 2.

Don’t know your experiences in the US, but here in Germany one would never drive a Pirelli or Bridgestone when a Michelin is available.

But certainly different context. I go 200mph++ almost at each drive. Pice of mind is important then.

I'm in the USA and while I don't go that fast, I have the exact same experience. I've given them all, on road and track, and Michelin is usually my preference.

So, Pirelli and Michelin have both been battling backorder issues across the board in various UHP sizes, and there doesnt seem to be a light at the end of the tunnel for either. The biggest thing to me that I tell my clients, yes one might last a hair longer, one might be a hair stickier, however which one is going to be the one that if you suddenly encounter a puncture, you will not haveto try to tear your hair out finding just one replacement. Typically it seems like Michelin is the one that we have had the most trouble with finding tires for however in this particular case, the Pirelli seems to be the one on backorder for the F12's rear.

So that being said, for right now, I would appear to be that the Michelin is the obvious answer :)

Would Pirelli do you a custom size if you pay them enough?

Did 5 sessions a 35mins on the F1 track in Spa, Belgium.

32C air temp, very sunny. Michelin PSS Tires were in the 80sC and did well. The rears lost a bit precision above 90C, but I guess more because pressure went to high. If I remember 2.5bar is to much for the rears. (Dont have the F / PSI numbers at hand)

Yesterday I saw a new F12 with tires that looked very much like semi-slicks. Bridgestone Potenza if I remember correctly.

Michelin PSS is one of the best if not the best out there at handling high temperature.

I saw those Bridgestone on a new F12 too, the Potenza S007. Yes the outer tread blocks are basically slicks. Way more aggressive than the PSS and quite on par with the Cup2 on tread design. Not sure about the compounds.

Would be interesting to try, I might when I run down the PZeros.

For MSS, factory spec 2.4bar for the front and 2.1bar for the rear cold.

PZeros are 2.1 and 2 respectively.
