I think I learned that lesson skiing and mountain biking first. At some point you start looking for different shapes vs just more raw speed or bigger drops or whatever. The risk goes up as you push harder and you have to stop and assess your goals once you realize your life is actually on the line.

Someone else is usually faster, better, etc. IMHO, best to focus on what's in your control and that is certainly not the dude in another car; or the other car.

 

it became a debate the minute someone decided to continue to trek down the path of misinformation.

It's funny how it's so easy for former & current scud owners to pay compliments to the CS but no one from the CS camp can seem to remotely be able to, not even in a simple recognition of performance fact; first chance they get they kick up the whole debate all over again! Or go into a denial about how performance doesn't matter! Well to different folks and to Ferrari some level of performance or perception of it has been the hallmark!

Lest no one forget, the Scuderia is the only end-cycle V8 lightweight variant that is comparably / equally quick to its new gen replacement. Unlike how the 430 trounced the CS, and now the 488 trounces the Speciale.

And fyi, I used to own a CS. Had 'em in parallel, working on rekindling that combo one day, maybe w a side of 488 or fgt or gt4 or 430 challenge car....so so many great cars out there, just need more money!!!

Or do you think it started with this post from Dino (Ingenere)? He just writes that he passed some Scuds on track, that doesn't mean the CS is faster than the Scud, it probably means the drivers in those Scuds weren't very good
I've seen an Enzo being passed by 360's and 430's at Spa-Francorchamps, does this mean the Enzo is slower? I think not

BTW: the Scuderia IS a great car, i would like to add a 16M to the stable one day, but the CS is a keeper

Fresh is also ignoring the dozens and dozens of posts I make complementing the scud. It's a funny thing about bias...

Scud: technically brilliant. Looks...average. CS: technically brilliant for it's generation. Looks, beautiful. Enough about 'relative' performance. Each generation of cars gets faster. So what. I'll happily trade a CS for a 'slower'car....say...a 250 GTO !

 

no, i am not, i just don't consider you as part of the "select" owners as aforementioned haha. you're good.

as always, i like hearing opinions on the board. i just don't like misinformation. it's a forum, if we all liked the same thing there wouldn't be a need for one.

going back to the original topic though, i did see a san-stripe specialé in person, and it is less ugly and for a fleeting second i got tempted! but my choice would still be in the last Pininfarina cars to roll out of the factory: CS and Scuderia.

also, an interesting tid bit for those who didn't realize this yet but the last of the 100% Pininfarina cars can be easily identified from the later gen Ferrari in-house stuff simply by looking at which side of the car the fuel cap is placed

if your ferrari has a fuel cap on the driver's side, it's a keeper! they won't ever make 'em like they used to. RIP Pininfarina, Hello Ferrari-in-house for better or worse.

 

I will be honest judging by most of the posts in this site I would say the majority of people are biased but I am thinking this is a natural thing. Just accept it stop posting and denying it!!!

 

Currently, I would prefer a CS and a SCUD. The Speciale is for sure a great car but being the most capable and modern may not be the better car among the three. IMHO.

Maybe in 3-5 years, my preference will change. The next ferrari I would buy is probably a CS. I am waiting on my GT3 next month and next is another ferrari.

 

I would definitely go for the ultimate trio of CS, Scuderia and Speciale! It is almost like having a stable of F40 , F50 an Enzo.

If you have the garage space and the means to do it, why not?

Life is short and you only live once.

 

Surely you could find a car suitable for three passengers that would be cheaper to maintain/quick enough/as aesthetically pleasing as the 612? You don't need 600hp to take your children to school, and when you want the raw speed you have three of the best V8 super cars in existence.

 

Go get a used M5 with that great V10...... Cheap, fast and reliable. Done!

I fully expect to see the 3 track day specials!

 

Drive all three back to back and keep the two that leave the biggest smile on your face.

 

Isn't this what the Range Rover or the G-wagon is perfect for (unless your wife really wants a 2+2 Ferrari as a family car)?

 

Go with the 612 combo. I love my Scud, but I see option 2 as giving you a more diverse range of experiences. That is a hell of a GT car (612), then you have your single-clutch screamer in the CS, and your modern assassin in the Speciale. Comfort, nostalgia, and dominance over any track car on demand. Sounds like a complete package to me.

 

CS and the Speciale - One that is the rawest and one that is the most refined

 

Just to stir the pot a little more... the good old CS is not that crap after all

yes it is slow by comparison, as the CS has Pirelli PZero Corsas, which will kill you in the wet (and it has sadly killed many in reality) so no surprise that on a dry track it beats a F430 but it is of course still much slower than a SCUD on a dry track as has been factually represented & in a straight line, the SCUD is so far in the distance you can hardly even see it.

 

I'd go Stradale and Speciale both Rosso Scuderia with stripes.

Look into a single post lift. Twice the cost, but worth it to eliminate so many posts.
